2021 Trunk Cable Issue

Maybe it's just a fluke and we got it, but the right side cable when opening the trunk catches on the hinge and won't allow the trunk to open all the way until I release the cable from the hinge. Took it in for 1000 mile service and the dealer tied some fishing line between the two cables hoping to alter the angle of the stubborn cable over time. If not "self-repaired' by the 5000 mile service or sooner, they'll try another cable under warranty.

Had the same prob. Take the cable off at the bottom & rotate it a 1/2turn & reinstall. May have to go a full turn . I did that on mine & no more problems. Think I did each side. Been a while. But it works.

Yes they do & some of them break & cause more damage. Those retractable hinge things, several have had those break. One was on the tourpak lid . Flipped over & busted the fiberglass. They have a fix for that also. lol A new lid.

I've had the same problem on my last 3 TG's. I did try to rotate it, but it didn't do any good.

I can live with it - not a big deal. Not going to spend $$$$ to fix it.

If that's the only problem you have, you're way a head of the game.

That is why always tie a tether rope to the lid. I used two nylon boot shoelaces to hold the lid and take the strain off the coil.

My trunk cable hangs up on the right side also, thanks for the little tip Bill, I'll give that a try.

My 2018 does the same thing from time to time.....not a big deal, just something to be aware of....

Mine did the same thing (2020). I had a small bungee the right size to pull both cables together. After a while, it started to stay out of the way.

all my trikes have done this, & 1/2 twist of the cable fixed it except for the trike i have now(2020). Frustrated that the old fix didn't fix this one, i removed both cables & switched sides. I have no idea why it worked but it did! Maybe give that a try.
