    Default Different Handlebars?

I think this has come up before. How many trike owners have changed their stock handlebars out? Up here in the coastal Alabama area and my riding buddy had a shop put 12" apes on his trike. He really likes them and they installed them for right at $700. I think the same shop has 10" which might be a good fit for me. My shoulders are starting to stiffen up some on longer rides.

I installed Khromewerks 2t2 wide sweepers on my 17 and they are super comfortable. I'm 5,9.

I have changed mine out to the Harley reach handlebars. I have really ef'd up shoulders and was to the point of selling the Tri-Glide because it hurt so much to ride it. The different bars made a world of difference. Sits me up straighter and still have my elbows bent which helps to keep the shock of hitting bumps away from my shoulders. I'm sure others will chime in.

    YMMV

I'm 6'1" and my buddy might be 6'2". Sitting on his trike it feels like his bars might be just a little high. I think I'll run by the shop that did his and look over what they have in the 10" bars. He said when they did his last year he simply showed up for the appointment and waited while they installed them, about a 3 hour job.

I called KST Kustoms about Mayhem Baggers and was trying to decide between 10 and 12 inch. I am about 6'1" and they said 12 and I am really happy with them after almost 3 years.

I've had the Khromewerks 2+2 Wide Sweepers on my 2015 for 3 years now and am quite happy with them. I put them on because of shoulder issues also.

I believe these bars are great for people six feet tall and under. I have a taller friend and these just are not tall enough for him.

I had the Khromewerks 2+2 wide sweepers installed on on mine last year and it was not only the first mod I made but the best one, comfortwise. I'm 6'2".

Joe, handlebars are like seats imo - very subjective. And unfortunately it is difficult to try out different combinations. I had Wild One 575s on several of my two wheelers and 578s I think it was on my 2018 TG as they were the 575 equivalent for the Rushmore fairing bikes. Really liked them and they are basically a 2+2 but wider than stock also. The added width makes for a bit of a reach in full lock turns. Now my arms are not particularly short (33" sleeve length) but I thought the Khrome Werks narrow sweepers might be better so I got them and really like them. Never had or tried a 'taller' bar so can't speak to that.

But if you're at all mechanically inclined don't be afraid to tackle the job yourself. It really isn't bad at all especially on the Rushmore bikes. Lots of good videos on You Tube. The bars I got were only about $125 and I just could not see paying $300 - $400 to install.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Went by the shop. Looks like the 12" would be the way to go. I may have some time to decide though because they are so busy they can't get me in until after the first week of May. I'll be hitting the road around the first of the month so that won't work. Either I'll try it myself later or make an appointment with them for later this summer on my way back to FL.

    Thanks guys for imput.

On my 2016 and now my 2018 I have the 1 1/4 wild one 12.5 bars and they really feel good to me, by the way I'm only 5'9". As most on here go with the Khrome werks 2+2 bars either wide or narrow, each to their own, but me I have had tall bars on all my bikes.

Thanks Fearless, for me they are comfortable, but as I said I have had tall bars on all bikes, some only 10 inch but never over 12.5 and it depends on the bike.Name: 2018--18.jpg

Size: 91.2 KB This is a better view of bars and as I said in other post I'm only 5'9" and the bars are even with my shoulder and it is a stock seat also.

Called a couple HD shops where we will be camped next month (central Illinois). Both gave general estimates for 12" bars of between $900 to $1,100. Started leaning toward doing it myself.

Part of my migration north is a stop up in Paducah to ride a couple days with a buddy. He went out to Four Rivers HD and got estimates for both of us to get new bars installed. They guaranteed the install for less than $800 so I have the appointment set with them.

This is the second time I have used Four River HD in Paducah for something on my Trike. Every time they are cheaper and I have always been impressed with their knowledge and honestly. Any of you guys living in that area are very lucky.

My HD reach bars installed were around $600, but NO extensions of any kind are needed. If your bars are going to need longer wires or hydraulic lines, I'd say the price sounds about right.....

They won't need any different hydraulic lines and I suspect 4-Rivers will use a wiring extension kit for inside the bars to save some time.

Could have had them done yesterday at the Panama City Beach rally for around $630. There was a vendor set up there with 5 or 6 lifts/techs doing nothing but bars. They were knocking them out quick. But I figured if in a week if something went wrong then who would stand behind it? I'll keep the appointment with Paducah.

    Default different handle bars

I put the 10 inch wild ones on my 19 tri glide and the brake line was maxed out. I couldn't put 12 on it hope you do better. My 2014 had more slack in it than the 19.

If you can have them call you so you can sit on bike and have handlebars adjusted the way you want before they tighten everything up, if you are going to sit there why they do it, great, I know my harley dealer called me and I went and after playing around at different positions sitting on bike where it felt good and then closing my eyes and reaching out that felt good and glad I did, it worked just fine, then they tighten everything up and I have been happy ever since.

I know Kevin had the dealer install his bars but then later he had to back and loosen to get it back to where he wanted it, he didn't tear everything apart to do it, just took off a panel I think and loosen up the bottom bolts and then tighten them back, there is a post somewhere on here with a picture.

    All for now Trampas

P.S. Enjoy those new bars when done, I know I love mine, very comfortable for me and no back or shoulder pain

Earlier this week I had my 19 in my buddies garage next to his 17 with the 12" bars installed. He was pretty sure the shop here in AL didn't extend his brake lines. Comparing the loop down by the rotor and the rest of the lines that were visible both of our bikes looked the same. That would lead me to believe also that they put a longer line on his bike.
