Had that trouble on my 1999. Dealer took switch apart and cleaned out the old grease and it works like new.

I just posted a lengthy discussion regarding the Honda switches.....here is the condensed version... Mother Honda uses a lubricant in the switches that over time hardens.... the issue is not the switch it is the lube.... do not ever use WD-40 on the switches... spray them liberally with electronic contact cleaner....

note: this should be done from the inside of the switch assembly work the switches as you spray to get the cleaner inside... it will disolve the hardened lube.... then get some good silicone lube spray... give it a good dose.... that should solve the issue.

If you get a clicking when pressing the start button and the starter does not spin,, then you could have a bad connection on the solenoid....or you could have a weak battery.... with the key off your battery should read 12.6 to 12.8 volts with no load...

Finally got my 2003 GW 1800 CSC trike back after being in shop for 5 weeks. $738.76 bill for:

Honda Goldwing hand control $168.82

Starter relay 75.00

GYZ20HL Premium BatteryTP 144.95

Labor @$90 315.00

Tax 34.99

Was told that battery died as a result of bad hand hand control constantly calling for juice.

I know my tow driver pretty well and I trust him and take him at his word when he said he placed left side cover in carrier before he loaded trike on flat bed. Shop is telling me it wasn't there in either carrier or trunk. Obviously, I'm screwed.

I am a 73 yr old woman who loves to ride, not familiar with mechanics of trike, and I certainly feel that I was taken advantage of.



New side cover will cost over $300, and I don't have that kind of insurance on trike. I am hoping to be able to get a used left side cover and I don't even know where to begin.



I AM VERY UPSET!!! CAN ANYONE HELP ME???
