    Default Extended Brake Pedal Issue

    About two months ago, I removed my 2014 Tri-Glide's OEM rear brake pedal and installed a Kuryakyn Extended Brake Pedal. After finally getting the new brake pedal installed, I certainly like the flatter foot to pedal position when applying the rear brakes. It feels more natural than the previous elevated ankle to foot position. The only problem I am experiencing is the new rear brake pedal doesn't seem to always freely "spring" (if that's the right word) back after applying and releasing the pedal. Even though the pedal always comes back far enough that the brake lights go off, sometimes I can stick my foot under the rear brake pedal and it will still come back a little. Also, after driving my Trike for ten to fifteen minutes, I have stopped several times and felt the rear brake rotors which, so far, have never been hot. Basically, am I worrying about nothing since the new rear brake pedal might need to "break-in" with the rear brake's master cylinder' applying process? Or do you think there might be something causing the rear brake pedal to be in a slight bind with the rear brake master cylinder's application?     Allen, I had the Kury extended pedal on my 15 but didn't experience what you are seeing, although I had the dealer install it. With the bike in neutral on a level surface does there feel any difference between moving it back and forth with and without pulling the lever up ?

    Hi Zammy,

    No. With the Trike in neutral, there is no resistance or difference in wheel sound when rolling the Trike forward or backwards even after applying the rear brake pedal and releasing it. Also, I just got through re-adjusting the placement of the rear brake rubber hose lines (I believe there were three of them), held inside two frame mounted rubberized black bands, going up the front right side tube metal frame to the rear master cylinder holding the brake fluid. Seems like the brake hose adjustment helped some with loosening up the movement of the rear brake pedal. I will continue to keep an eye on the brake pedal.

    Just an FYI. Maybe it was just me; however, installing the extended rear brake pedal was probably the most difficult upgrade I have performed on my Trike. From having two rear brake bracket bolts cross-threaded, I guess installed by the factory or dealership, to having very little space to perform the installation with my large hands, to finally breaking two bolt heads off the new bracket bolts I tried installing into the cross-threaded bolt holes and having to drill them out, the extended brake pedal installation was a "nightmare" for me. Sometimes things just work out that way I guess. Anyway thank you for your help. Allen S.

    i once adjusted all play out of my rear brakes. bad idea after about 20 miles brakes started dragging, rotor got terribly hot almost locked wheel up. if rotor is not hot after riding a few miles i wouldnt worry about it.

    I installed the same brake pedal on my 2016 TGU 2-3 years ago. I couldn't get it go on without feeling too tight and it wouldn't spring back at all. BTW, they are a pain the *** to install. Anyway after fooling with it for a couple of hours I decided to take some sandpaper wrapped around my finger and sand out the inside some. It didn't take but just a few minutes of sanding and it slid all the way on and rebounded fine, especially after greasing it.
