New owner, just returned from Houston with my 2000 Goldwing trike.

I rode from Houston to Olympia Wa.on my, new to me ,2000 Goldwing Motor Trike, a great ride. I need to replace the rear pads on this puppy right now, and I received no information about the kit from the former owner. I would appreciate any information about the process. Do I need a model identification # to order replacement pads? I haven't located any identifying info on the bike.

I have yet to look underneath yet. What is the proper style jacking tool to use to remove a wheel? Would it be better to go to a dealer for the pads? I would have, but Im still learning how to get in contact with a dealer. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

I had my question answered by a fellow from the plant. The 2000 model has drum brakes and uses Ford Ranger brake shoes, but does not support the self adjusting feature so he advised me to pull the drum cover off and adjust the brakes myself. A couple you-tube videos and I will give it a try.

Mike, welcome from Ohio. As far as the rear pads are concerned most of the trike kit companies use automotive read differentials and brakes. Find a good parts house and take your pads with you and see if they can match them up. Also pay attention to this site as there are some great guys up here and one of them will likely tell you everything you'll need to know. Mine is a CSC so I'm of no help. Good luck!

Mike I have only been trikking for a few weeks, my PO did not know what kind of trike he had.... turns out it was a Hannigan... I called the Hannigan folks..learned a lot from them... they sent me a PDF of the owners manual with all the info I needed... were very helpful... when I had a technical question I was put through to one of the engineers that designed the kit... gave me about 15 mins of his time to pick hisbrain....you can probably do the same with Motor Trike.... good luck and welcome to the forum....

Mike, Welcome to the TT from Northern Kentucky. I have a suggestion which might work for you. Instead of replacing the shoes on old drum brakes why not convert them to disk brakes. Disk would provide much better stopping while providing good wear qualities. Try Summit Racing, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/t...d/model/ranger

The example provided doesn't work with Ranger but if you call them they'll have a kit which does work. I have no connection with Summit just using them as an example. Good luck with your new trike and please keep us advised.
