Greetings:
Longtime HD rider here, finally got weary (with my bad leg and advancing age)of dealing with a 900-lb 2014 Ultra Limited (which I loved to ride), I still have smaller 2-wheeled motorcycles that are not a problem, but the wife still likes a big HD for touring.
Saturday I made the 2+ hour ride to Timbertown HD in Salem, OR (used to be Salem Harley) and sat down with the sales manager (Jim) who I bought my last two Harley from...
He threw me the keys to a 2021 Tri Glide Ultra Classic and said “go have fun...see you after lunch”.
Needless to say I rode it home.Things I like:
Not worrying about tipping over in a gravel parking lot
Pushing it around the garage
Backing up
Controls in the same place as my Ultra Limited
Apple Carplay on the radio
Radio/Nav starts MUCH quicker
The bigger engine
ABS/Traction control
More cargo room the Ultra Limited
Things that are different:
Steering (well, duh - it’s a trike)
Lane position
Reverse and parking brake
The new GTS radio
Things I miss from the Limited:
Heated grips (easily remedied)Power port in the tour pak (again, easily remedied)
Luggage rack (installing this week)
My old paint scheme (the two-tone Red/Black Sunglo); the new Billiard Red is too flat, so I bought the Grey/Black two-tone.
The 2.5-hour ride home was the ‘long way’; no freeways, just state highways with light traffic...and the last 14 miles has 114 turns over the mountain so I had my ‘cornering clinic’ already LOL. Yup, turn entry speed is critical.
I think this is going to be a great bike....and looking forward to acquiring the ‘tribal knowledge’ that is shared here.
Ride safe!
