sound bar

Anyone have a sound bar for thier TV and does it allow:

You to hear better?

directs the sound at you?

what did you pay?

What is reasonable to pay?

I just want to have the sound come forward. I have a hard time hearing the females on shows.

I thought the sound bar would help.

Yes I have a Sound Bar. It's 2 feet long 3 inches high and sits in front of the TV. Also has a second speaker 6X6 that is a Bass and remote, you can put it anywhere. All works with your volume control. It Helps me. The make or name of it is Boston. I've had it for a few years and can't remember what it cost.

I don’t have a sound bar but for several years have used a set of wireless tv headphones. I like them real well. I think there is newer technology out there now like maybe some kind of ear buds instead of a headphone...but mine is still functioning so not replacing it yet.

My dogs, with their sensitive hearing, appreciate that I don’t turn the tv up where I can actually hear it. LOL.

I agree that a LOT of women are hard to understand on tv... many talk at the higher pitch of a child rather than from the lower diaphragm and, at rapid-fire speed... plus they do not enunciate as they should... I think they quit providing speech and public speaking classes in high school several years ago.

The separate subwoofer is really nice. If you can, go to a store (like Best Buy or similar) and listen to some in person.

I got the 2.1 system and wish I had gotten the 3.1 system. The center channel is supposed to be good for voice.

So yesterday I went and got a sound bar, not a terribly expensive one but good for what I wanted.

I had trouble hooking it up because the plug in was for HDMI-ARC and all I have on the TV was HDMI.

So I called the number and she walked me through it and I hooked up the optical cable and it worked.

After fooling around with the TV controls and the volume I got it to work fine.

Now the female voices come through and I can understand them.

So I am good!
