Default Accessory Cost on the Gen 3 Wing

Has someone noticed how expensive accessories are for the Gen 3 as opposed to the earlier models? Even before Covid and the price increases that may have resulted from it, after market items were and are much higher than previous models. Everything from luggage racks to fender extensions to cup holders are twice and sometimes 3 times the price of the older models. Anyone else noticed this?

Its mainly due to the fact that only a handful of manufacturers build accessories for the 2018 and up Goldwings and there have not been enough produced, knocked off, etc to have a broad and competitive market of the few items being produced. That will probably change in due time, just as it did over time on the 2001-2017 GL1800s.

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the 3rd generation of the wing the 1200cc? I thought the 2018 and newer are 6th generation.....?

Yep.. It's easy to lose count at this point.

Honda considered the 2012 thru 2017 as Gen II Then with the complete redesign from head to toe on the 2018 and newer it is considered a Gen III. I've owned 2 1982 models, one 1984 1200CC model, 4 1500 CC models, a 2004 1800 CC, a 2012 and now a 2019 Gen III. When the first 2018 came out I didn't like them at all. The trunk was smaller, ( which Honda did remedy in the 2021), the mirrors were tiny and the fairing smaller. BUT, last year I bought a new 2019 with a CSC kit and custom Copper color and I absolutely LOVE it. Great handling. The 7 speed DCT automatic tranny is great. It was an entire new learning experience but worth it. The new double wishbone suspension is terrific and no fork tubes or springs is a plus. The mileage is much improved over my older models, although I"ve only had the last three Wings Triked. Think seriously about upgrading if you can. It will be worth it.
