With summertime in full swing and I'm feeling more and more at home on my new trike I find myself wanting to wear a helmet less and less. What do you all wear?

1. Full or Modular Helmet

2. A Half Helmet

3. Sometimes do/sometimes don't

4. No Helmet. The world deserves to see me in all my glory

Florida is a no helmet state ( if you have proper insurance)

That said, I have a beanie helmet, I wear it when I leave Florida ( most adjacent states have mandatory helmet laws)

I always expect to get a lot of heat for not wearing a helmet, so let it begin:p

I prefer a modular these days (I now wear a Shoei) but no matter what I will choose to wear a helmet period. I was hit by a drunk cager in 1986 early one Saturday morning riding into work about 4am that nearly killed me. My full face helmet was split into two halves that was held solely together by the liner in the helmet, I hit the concrete so hard with my head that while the helmet broke into two halves it did do its job. I broke dozens and dozens of bones throughout my body (had to learn how to walk all over again) but my skull wasn't one of them thank the Lord. I'll never ever get caught riding a bike these days without wearing a helmet of some kind. Just say I learned first hand that helmets do indeed save lives, at least I and my (ex)wife and 4 kids believe in them.

I don't have a problem what others do so long as they know the risks and have a way to pay for their own medical costs should they become seriously injured as a result of not wearing a helmet and not expect tax payers to foot their medical care bill to care for them afterwards if they get head trauma injuries. Otherwise have a great ride. I live in Texas and we have the same law as well. Just provide proof of adequate medical coverage.

Not to send this thread off the rails......But smokers should also have to show proof of medical coverage before they light up...:D..;).

Summer ...... 1/2 Helmet

Winter ...... Modular

We always wear a helmet, Jo Ann has never been without one. Myself when in my youth not so much but I learned the value of a helmet early on racing flat track and MotoCross. I went through a few back in the day, lol.

I used to like 3/4 open helmets for a long time. That ended after the second time a bee decided to keep me company inside the helmet. I now ride with nothing but modular, usually with the face shield cracked open a bit on the bottom (But not open enough to catch bees). Helmets are not required here in Arizona. I do think about those choosing to go helmetless every time a big ol' bug bounces off mine with the sound like a rifle shot..... Jim

I wear a 1/2 helmet (Bell Pitboss). I was an accident scene reconstructionist and am aware of injuries w/o a helmet. 3/4 and full faced helmets just feel too restrictive to me and feel like it takes away the freedom of riding. Be Safe BK

My state doesn't require one, so I don't wear one, never have since I was 16 except for six months when Iowa passed the law to require it if I remember right back in the late 70's or early 80's not sure and then ABATE got into the act and we got it repealed, didn't do much riding during that time because of helmet law.

I own a full face and half helmet in case I go to a state that requires it, so far only had to wear it in Nebraska, don't do much traveling now, just me I guess, just ride around Iowa and I'm happy with that.

All for now Trampas

Trina and I both wear a 3/4 helmet even when riding where we don't have to. Since we are talking helmets what do you do with yours when you go in some place like a store or restaurant, the triglide doesn't have helmet hooks and our trunk is so full they will not fit there. for years we have been using a cable and lock like comes with a gun.
