rear brake light switch

My 2015 triglide rear brake light switch works fine, when the bike is cold. As the bike heats up the rear brake switch engages the light. It seems that the switch itself is not a problem till the bike heats up.. I havent been able to find any links that address this issue.. Is the switch adjustable? Any insight on this... Ps.. Had full brake service done this spring.. didnt notice any problem till after a 100 + mile ride , now is happening even on relatively short runs.

The heat from the exhaust is doing a number on the switch

The only thing you can do is replace the switch, my 17 Freewheeler had that same problem, HD has a new part number

I did purchase a new switch at local HD, but wasn't sure it was bad since it operates fine till bike gets hot... thanks.

Knock on wood My 16 Tri-glide hasn't yet but a friends Freewheeler experienced a brake switch failure. Same thing the longer it was ridden the more intermittent it either operated or didn't. Park the Freewheeler and by the time You got any tools or meters to check it worked fine. Start and ride repeat the problem. Finally total failure and replacement under warranty.

I know there was a recall on the rear master Cylinder Reservoir because of the excessive heat…Mine was done on my2011 in 2012!

Amazing that HD hasn't done a recall on this. My local mechanic said when I went in to get it replaced again said he has them in stock as to the number of HD bikes with the problem. Two years ago, replaced the switch and also replaced the rear lights as with the brake lights on all the time, burnt out the sockets. Have rear led lights now. I would do it myself if I had a lift....

My 2015 Triglide did the same this spring and had to replace the switch. It seems the original switch is "not so good" and many have been replaced by many folks over the years. The reverse motor and the water pump, if original, are also parts that get replaced frequently.

Mine was replaced by the dealer as part of the recall.
