Default Keeping Trunk Lid Clean of Prints and Smudges

This is probably my OCD showing, but every time I close the trunk lid on my Freewheeler I'm left staring at fingerprints or palm smudges on an otherwise spotless trike. So I'm looking for ideas to keep that area clean without having to use my knees or a shirt sleeve to close the lid. I see Harley has "invisible" (they call them) adhesive patches designed to keep scuffs off of the fenders and such. Are they a viable solution or do they cause more problems than they're worth?

Wash your hands more often............I get smudges on my Tri-Glides trunk [Black paint]....I rarely wash my hands, So when i get fingerprints on it and before the detectives can dust them for prints, I wipe them off with a Kozak cloth...Yep they still make them i been using them since the very early 60's.....

Short of putting on a glove every time I close the trunk lid I was wondering if I got something like these from HD and cut a small piece and put it in a spot where I would normally contact the lid to close it. I have reservations about anything that glues itself to my paint, although Harley says it's "easily" removable.

I checked the link and it gave me some ideas. The same material can be purchased in 4" wide rolls to be cut to length for half of what HD wants for one of they're kits. I like the idea of the logo decals, but just having a random decal on the trunk will bug me. No symmetry, I guess. I used to carry a handkerchief in my back pocket for years, not for nose blowing but for things like this. Not even sure you can still buy handkerchiefs anymore. Maybe I'll go look. Thanks for the tip.

I could replace it every time I closed the lid? But then I'd get fingerprints on it handling it and would have to replace it again. I need my meds.

I keep some micro-fiber rags in the trunk. If I make a smudge when I close it, no worries. I can't see it while riding. Next time I go to the trunk I wipe it off. ..... Jim
