    Default Looking to get my first trike

    Hi, I'm a new member from Minnesota. Long time Harley rider and owned a Spyder the last ten years. I'm going to go look at a 2002 Goldwing with a 2012 CSC Cobra XL conversion. The kit is pretty well optioned with auxiliary fuel tank, chrome wheels, easy steer fork, ect. The trike looks to be in excellent condition from the pictures with 20,000 miles. Is there anything I should look for or be aware of with this trike. Thanks.

    Welcome Randy. Nothing in particular to look for on the CSC trike. Not any inherently weak points that I am aware of. Just look for usual things like brakes, tires, service records, etc. The CSC trike is a very good quality conversion. The support from CSC for us owners is second to none. The aux. fuel tank takes a little getting use to when filling. But, it is an option that is well worth while. Good luck..... Jim

    They had some drive shaft issues , somebody made a replacement that was better I can't remember the name . CSC made or make's a upgrade that was kinda expensive , it was a new driveshaft and you had to change the front of the differential, I did mine had to remove the tour pack, the rear body, and the rear axle assembly . The driveshaft was on to much of a angle . I think if you sent it out it would EXPENSIVE . Call CSC and ask if they make the driveshaft upgrade kit ? maybe you can get a picture of it look under the trike to see if it been done ? Look back in the post on here there was a lot of post on it a while back .

    I was wrong about my years. I thought you were looking at a CSC that was newer. The 2012 and prior years DID have a drive shaft problem. There was a "fix" for that by welding two parts of the drive shaft together. It was not the best fix. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't. CSC has a completely new drive shaft system that corrects the problems correctly. It is a bit pricy. I had my 2008 updated with it last year. To find out if you have the "old" drive or "new" one, look under the trike at the rear differential. If you see what looks like a transfer case attached to the rear diff., you have the old system. That rear gear box attached to the differential is completely eliminated with the up-dated drive shaft kit. To have the bike updated, if it needs, will be about a $1,500 expense. After updating, it is pretty much bullet proof..... Jim
