Issue w/HD part while installing DK's custom lift items

Working on installing to DK Custom lift brackets to my 2018 rear shocks. Got the left one off with some elbow grease.

The right one though is an issue. The threaded boss on the OEM part is spinning. It has come loose. I can hit it with a grinder to get it off and might damage the shock bolt in process. Of course it can be replaced.

Thought I would ask here for anyone's experience on this.

That is a first. Never seen that, nor heard of it before. Crazy. I would put some clamp pliers on the boss to hold it in place and go ahead and remove the bolt.

I would also take a video of the boss spinning. I would take the part into a dealership and show them...or maybe corporate.

That is not good...don't see right offhand how it is a safety issue, but I suppose it could be if it spun off while riding. They need to know so that if it is not an anomaly they can take steps to up the quality.

Yes, I did think about the pliers move. Unfortunately the bolt is seized up tight in the boss. I think that's why I was able to break the boss loose from the bracket.

I may try some heat on it first before I go grinding away.

Yes, some heat, combined with some vise grips that are wedged to prevent turning, should do the trick.

What a PITA. I have never liked that HD uses a boss on that part, but have never seen one fail before.

Heat did the trick. Once it was hot, the bolt came out like butter.

HD uses some nasty locktite.

Its a dry wax type loctite, Pre-treated from the bolt manufacturer And the action of bolts screwing into a nut causes friction which activates the loctite...I have a stick of 268 loctite that i used to keep the tie -link bolt from constantly backing out...It was still tight after 30 thousand + miles..And if the new owner ever has to remove that bolt their going need extreme heat to get it out..
