Default Late Model Harley Ultra with CSC

Do anyone here have a late model say 2018 - 2021) Harley Ultra Limited CSC trike conversion with the electronic reverse.

I am trying to get a picture of where they install the reverse switch light in the faring. I was told they use the horn button to activate it - but, there is a switch that they install in the faring between the gauges.

A model 2014 or later may be the same - so, if you have a picture, please send it to me. cycle7447@aolcoom

    Thanks

    Don

Lots of views - no takers. So, I talked to CSC today - looked at where they wanted to put the activation switch - and, offered a suggestion.

The bat wing has that phone cubby on the right side. On the left side is the exact same thing - that, from what I can see, serves no purpose. The will put that activation switch there.

Also, talking to CSC, I am not certain if they have done any late model Harley conversions. My guess is, most folks go for the tri-glide. Since I had an earlier trike on my Wing, I sort of liked that ride and therefore decided to convert my Harley.

My Harley ESP told me today that they would not support the bike portion on extended service so I will cancel that - should get all of the money back. Local Harley dealer tells me they will do any needed warranty work on the non-trike portion on my bike. CSC has a 5 year warranty on the trike kit. \

Bottom line, getting older - this is probably my last bike/trike. Both my wife and i can ride this -so, I am taking out all of the stops.

I am in the process of converting an 2019 Ultra Limited with a CSC Trike Kit. This process started in July of 2021 and hopefully I will have my trike finally by August of this year. Total cluster in my opinion. Builder had my bike since November and never could get it painted-CSC charged me for the 2 tone painting then farmed it out to the builder. I finally just went and picked it up unpainted and drove it to the Harley Shop in Bowling Green, Ky.

So far I have paid for the kit, builder to put it together unpainted-minus 1800.00 or so for no damn paint, Wicked Kolors 3800.00 to paint the parts, and whatever my bill will be to disassemble / reassemble trike kit. I am not impressed with the CSC company at all. I sent all of the Harley info when I purchased kit and if they could not paint it it should have ended right there. Dam builder kept feeding me bs about going to get it painted and I just lost about a year of time enjoying my new bike. I will not put any CSC emblems on my trike anywhere and tell anyone who asks it was a Chinese kit I ordered online.

In reference to reverse-I had a motor trike reverse put on my bike when I purchased it but the Harley people showed me where a reverse was on my trike kit but we will have as a backup if my geared reverse ever fails. I specifically told the builder I did not want the CSC reverse but it was months earlier so he had time to forget!!!!!!

George, I hate to tell you but you picked the wrong builder.

I had my trike built at the CSC factory in Arrington, VA. and nothing but praise for their professionalism. It only took approximately 2 1/2 months from start to sitting in my garage. And any follow up calls to CSC I got to speak directly to the man who was the lead on my build.

Sorry for your problems and welcome to Trike Talk.

    Default Trike build

2 1/2 months was in the old days. I ordered mine first week in November 2021 and it showed up at the dealers last week. That's 8 months at CSC. They are pleasant to talk to but they have parts supply issues.

So do a lot of other companies making all kinds of products. No reason to bash a good company.

George - sounds like you are having a heck of a time. I guess I am a little lost. From what I know about CSC, the only kits they said they would not paint is from CVOs. You said you had a 2019 but, did not mention CVO.

Sounds like you are saying CSC shipped the kit to the dealer unpainted. Such was not the case for me - it came completely painted. Can't imagine why they would ship it to your builder unpainted (unless the builder charged you for the CSC paint and was trying to make a little extra by painting it himself.

Have you picked up the phone and called CSC - they, in my opinion, are very interested in having your bike done correctly. In my case, I started the order in late November, and I was riding by the middle of May. Friend of mine placed his order in March and his bike is currently at CSC and should be ready by the end of July.

Not sure you are getting the full story from "someone". Looks like you have a CDC dealer really close to you.\

Are you also saying that you did not want or pay for the CSC reverse, and they put it on. At the cost for the reverse, hard to imaging CSC made that kind of a mistake. Something seems really wrong

What are you the owner. That was a simple statement of fact. I didn't bash anyone. Read it again more slowly.

As you can see-I did not have a CVO-The builder told me that CSC could not match my paint-I have never talked to anyone at CSC. I got online and found the builder from the CSC website and assumed that the company had some kind of quality control over who they had represent them. Of course at this late date I realize I got a lousy builder!!!! I drove that unpainted crap all across the state of Kentucky to get it to a Harley dealer I purchased the bike from to get my kit painted and put together. When they started disassembling the kit they found part of the molding cracked (had to be cut off), so the kit was not a “fit” for my bike from the factory. The painter found pinholes in the molding that we still have to address.

I purchased the kit in July 2021 with a delivery date of November. I had top pay all costs upfront except the “build fee” so I spent over 22k in July. Builder had me bring bike in November so he could tear down. After builder had my bike I was told that CSC could not get my black wheels (5-6. Week wait -I said I would wait) and that they could not match my paint but he knew a painter that could-again I said ok. I am now expecting my bike in early Jan 2022.

I email builder every few weeks to check on status and waiting on painter was always the reply. Finally in April I reached out the Harley BG and asked if they could get my kit painted and my trike finished-finally in May I went and picked up the unpainted kit and drove it down to Bowling Green. I am so lucky I brought my spare Fob because the builder test rode that am and lost the fob off of the dash where he just laid them versus putting in tour pack!!!!!!

Had to order new fob on top of everything else. Paid over 2000 after he gave me a paint rebate for this half assed build. Got the trike disassembled, hauled to Wicked Kolors (had to get on their schedule) they matched the paint (see pic) and I drove up and picked up the parts Monday (7/11). Harley has me on the schedule for 7/27-30 to put my trike together.

I read all the comments about how great this company is supposed to be-Why didn’t they find someone to paint my kit????

Why sell a product I have to pay to get assembled, disassembled, painted, and reassembled (and modified where the moulding cracked)??? I am out around an extra 10,000.00 before I can even use this great product. I would not recommend them and damn sure won’t advertise their product-you will never find anything CSC on my bike. Feel free to throw as much money at them as you want to-

I wonder when the warranty is supposed to start-when they shipped the kit, when I paid for the partial build, August 1 when I plan to finally get the bike back??? Did I void this warranty when I had Harley disassemble / modify to work / reassemble???

    Jokes on me!!!

Honestly your lucky they did not paint it, Your paint looks awesome in the picture, My Indian I got the dealer I bought the trike from to pay me $ 3000. to repaint & match the paint on mine, They had 3 of them on the floor that were as bad as mine. There was pinholes everywhere sad scratches, dirt & did not match. Good luck post some pictures when Done .

Gwmagee - I can certainly understand why you are upset. For some reason, I still believe the issue lies with your builder.

To your point, I find it hard to believe that the builder would completely assemble the trike :before it is painted". Like you said, that takes and would cost a double build price.

Still think you should get on the phone with CSC and let them know what happened. This is exactly what I did when I have the problems. When my bike was delivered, it did not run properly - the clutch was not adjusted correctly. I got on the phone with both CSC ad the builder - there response was, take it to the dealer and do whatever is needed.

Installed picked it up on a Sunday, took it to the dealer. Dealer installed a completely new clutch. I paid the bill, sent them the receipt and got a check withing a few days. Since then, I have not had any issues at all.

My wheels were not available when I ordered. So, they put wheels on and said when they arrived, they would ship them to me. Got my new wheels the other day and they are installed.

Your call - however, I still think toy should contact CSC.

By the way, the bike looks like your color. I was talking to this guy before I had mine done. I believe CSC painted his.

Not to argue but I would be surprised if CSC painted his but wouldn’t paint mine.

Click on the trike image and it will take you to the web page where the installer put this together

First and only trike so I do not have a point of comparison. Not at all happy about all of the extra money I had to pay because of the lousy builder. I am going to contact CSC and find out if I can get Disk Brakes without their logo next week. I also want to find out when the warranty is supposed to start-when they shipped unpainted kit in November 2021, when builder did half assed job assembling in April when I picked it up, or this past Wednesday when I finally got to pick up a painted and working trike from Bowling Green Harley Davidson. I will not be surprised if they tell me I voided the warranty having someone outside their network do the work.

This could be a sticky mess with the warranty it seems as if the original installer 'Farmed' the entire job out. I found only 3 dealers in your state and it seems like one of them is close by you. I visited the website of the one in Hopkinsville and it makes no mention of them selling and installing CSC trike conversions. Neither they or the Harley dealer are authorized CSC dealers.

As for the paint on the online form it states "Please Note: CSC does not paint Harley-Davidson "CVO" paint colors" the dealer should have not charged you for this service and then you receive an unpainted conversion and then that gets farmed out and costs more. Seems like a little gouging from the dealer.

While the fault does not lie with CSC, it lies with the person you made the deal with to do the work and then they farm the job out. CSC needs to be informed of what has happened and pull their affiliation with this dealership. In order to get the warranty you may have to bring the trike to CSC headquarters or an 'Authorized' CSC dealer. The trike will have to be gone through to make sure it was done right or you could also be in a situation where no one will touch it and sign off on it.

    From the CSC website:

    Warranty Period:

5 YEARS / UNLIMITED MILES. Warranty repairs will be made at no charge for parts and labor provided that the conversion kit was installed by a “factory authorized stocking dealer”. If installed by other than an “authorized dealer” the warranty covers parts only, and only if the kit was properly installed in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions. All warranty repairs must be pre-approved by the manufacturers’ Service Department and according to prescribed procedures.

Proof of purchase must accompany all warranty claims. All defective parts must be returned prepaid prior to shipment of replacement part.
To become a dealer you send a top tech and a motorcycle to be converted and then this person works side by side with an employee from CSC and that person is then 'Certified'.

Explain the entire chain of events to CSC, don't fault them. The dealer you purchased from is the problem and if they are the ones on the website, they look like shysters.

i did not want to use Hopkinsville. Scorched Orange is NOT a CVO paint. I assume CSC accepted the paint job when they accepted the contract and my money.
