Thanks for the add.
I am considering triking my Goldwing or possibly trading it in on a CamAm RT. Just looking to gather info on both. Of more interest is passenger comfort and convenience.

WELCOME ABOARD FROM MONTANA
Welcome from your neighbor in central Utah. I had a Goldwing trike and did not like it very much, though I did put 40,000mi. on it. It rode rough and steered hard. I bought a CanAm Spyder (2012 in 2015) and have not looked back. Yes the Spyder is a little more fiddly than the 'Wing but it has always gotten me home.It is very comfortable and steers very well.I bought my Spyder with 8500 mi and it now has 69,500 mi. on it. By the time you add in the cost of the donor bike plus the conversion cost the Spyder is also cheaper. Goldwing or Spyder there will be an adjustment period,so just be aware of that.
Happy TRAils/NSD

Welcome to TrikeTalk!!
I had a 2008 GL1800 with a Motor Trike Adventure kit, independent suspension. Loved it!
My husband had a 2008 GL1800 with a Lehman Monarch II kit, solid axle. He loved it!
I sold his trike when he passed on and kept my Motor Trike.
Motor Trike is still made and is a great kit.
Lehman Monarch II is no longer made and parts are hard to find.
If you buy a used trike make sure the kit is still in production..otherwise it could be a problem to find parts.
I now ride a 2021 Spyder RTLimited. I love it!
I looked at the Spyder for 3 years but could not turn loose of the comfort and reliability of the Gold Wing. Finally there was a design change for the Spyder in 2020… I waited a year for them to hopefully work out any bugs in the design change. Then when 2021 came around I pulled the trigger. Tearfully sold the Gold Wing. So far I am happy as can be with this Spyder.
It is comfortable, quick, has nice storage, reverse, cruise control, automatic levelling system, etc.
The reason I sold the Gold Wing is that there were no Motor Trike dealers anywhere near me to take it for maintenance or any repairs needed. I have no skills or tools to be able to do my own work. A lot of the Honda dealers won’t work on a trike…even the Honda part of it. The gentleman who had been maintaining my trike decided to withdraw from working on bikes other than his own..he was 150 miles from me. That left me with taking the trike to Motor Trike in Troup, Texas…300 miles from me. The Spyder dealer is only 46 miles away. I figured someone was trying to tell me something so decided it was time to swap vehicles. Had the maintenance issue not been a problem The Gold Wing would likely have been my last 3-wheeler…I tend to keep vehicles forever it seems…
As already stated… there will be a learning curve on either the trike or the Spyder but it is so nice to be able to do a slow turn in the parking lot at ease…and also not worry about gravel or sand under your feet when trying to maneuver around.
p.s.. if you choose a kit with the option of an auxiliary fuel tank..DO SO!!….the trike kit sucks down the mpg big time. When that Gold Wing hit the 1/2 tank line the gauge dropped like a rock…I tried to top off at the half line as I often ride in remote areas and being concerned about having enough gas is a royal pain in the arse.

Welcome Rob. You have good choices. Fortunately you live close to, in my opinion, the best Can Am dealer in the state of Arizona. Sierra Cycles in Sierra Vista is a place I can highly recommend for both sales and service. I went the opposite direction from what Carla did. I had Goldwings for many years. Went to a Spyder RTL for a little over 3 years then back to Goldwing and then a Goldwing trike. The biggest down side to the Spyder for me was lack of good servicing dealers in my area. Again, I think you are fortunate in that respect. If I still had a Spyder, I would do the drive to Sierra for my servicing. The dealers in the Phoenix area have been scratched off my "good guy" list. Good luck and again, welcome..... Jim

Welcome from Greenfield, Indiana!!
Welcome to Trike Talk from Sierra Vista. I have a bike purchased from Sierra Cycles, they provide great service and top notch dealer as Jim said above. I cannot talk about Spyder or Goldwing, since I have an Arizona Trike and Tri Glide. Being just up the road, more then welcome to stop by to discuss trikes. I am sure we can find some local rides to talk with.

Thanks everyone. For me it is even money on buying a Can Am or triking my 2012. Glad to hear Sierra Cycles is worthwhile. I've had two experiences with them that left a bad taste in my mouth. I will give them one more chance and if it doesn't work out I will look elsewhere for Can Am info.
Welcome from northern AZ! Lots of luck finding your new ride!
