Has anyone used a A1 Vented Dip Stick and if so how do you like it?
I have a 2017 M8 and wonder if it is the right way to go for a sumping issue.
Thanks for your time.

Bob, that will not help the engine oil sumping problem
The 17 model year engines had the first generation oil pump ( new and improved designs had a lip seal) and improved oil pump to help the problem
Not all engines showed this problem, same goes for the tranny fluid transfer issue, some did , many did not

To Bob no the primary is not vented. Bought bike new. All stock.
Mike, if your 17 is sumping have you tried running your engine oil only 1/2 up the stick?
Also let the engine idle for at least a minute before shutting down
While there are many good reviews on the vented dip stick IMO it is only a band aid
The real deal would be the updated oil pump with the seal IMO

Thanks to everybody who replied. I was concerned about the oil from the crank case of the engine getting
into the throttle body, not transmission fluid into the primary case. Does a vented oil dip stick relieve the
built up pressure from the crank case and if so does that help eliminate oil getting into the throttle body
from the breather bolts on the cylinder heads? If anyone has tried the vented dip stick how is it working
for you.
Have a Merry Christmas everybody.
Thanks for the info, I will lower the oil level in the crank case. I checked and it was above the full
mark. Had the oil changed in all 3 holes late this fall just before putting it into winter storage at the
local Harley dealer where I bought it. It's hard to get good help these days. Maybe I'll start doing
my own oil changed again like when I had the 2 wheeler. Hey I am not lazy but being 73 I just don't
care about laying on the garage floor any more.
Stay safe everybody.
If you are sumping you can pull the crank sensor out and measure the oil that comes out
Any more than 6oz of oil the MoCo says is a sumping engine and needs attention.
I dunno for sure if the vented stick works on all cases that sump, it is hit and miss and kinda spendy IMO
Keeping your oil level down to the 1/ mark will help, as well as letting the engine idle down for 1-2 minutes after a ride helps some
The real cure is the updated oil pump with seal
