Got me a 1996 GL1500 SE Motor Trike to play with..What do you thinK?

We own an almost new Tri Glide, but dont ride as much as we did

With prices goin thru the roof, I thought I might sell the HD

Ran onto this 96 1500 with a Motor Trike Kit, needs a serious detailing

fresh fluids and i'm hopin a couple tanks of non ethanol and can of seafoam

might wake her up a little, she starts and runs just been sittin with that old ethanol in it

Carbs seem OK. I got a steal of a deal on it.

Who knows I may like it and with only 50K it's by no means worn out

I'll get her lookin and runnin good then we'll see

What do you think? Does she look OK?

It looks good to me. :clapping:

  • If the timing belts haven't been changed, you may want to change them
  • Get yourself a Honda Factory Service Manual
  • A carb sync as there are 2 of them

A friend of mine has one like this with straight pipes on it . It a riot to ride it has short wheel base, he flipped it on it's side over the summer, pretty well scuffed up we got it sheet rock screwed back together so he can still ride it. I fixed it back in the spring he rear ended a car. The bike takes a good beating but I dont no how much more he can take. before all the damage I rode it a lot great trike lots of power and fun to ride . ENJOY

I had a 98 GL 15 with a DFT IRS system on it and we hated that one. Wife called it "Lurch" because of the bumpy ride...LOL

This has a solid axle hopin it'll ride a little better I've ALWAYS liked the 1500s one of the best bikes ever made...I'll keep y'all updated

Its a shame to have something nice and destroy it. Unless the person has a lot of $$$ and don't care.

Well, got the fluids changed all detailed up nicely (these are a BEAR to detail properly)

Got her out I LIKE this solid axle Motor trike Kit on this one!

Put 5 PSI in the front forks, running the rear air at 30 PSI, 40 PSI in the front tire and 25 PSI in the rears (as recommended by Motor Trike Tech who I called) and all seems fine

NO WANDERING as on the DFT IRS kit, stays right where you place it, now granted it's a 1996 so no it doesnt ride as good as my 2 yo 35000 Harley did, but the ride is fine for what it is. Took a cup holder off the handlebars (that damn thing was buzzing like crazy!) other than that it just runs right down the road. I think for now anyway I have found a decent replacement trike! I always ride carefully shift properly and cruise 65-70 MPH so this old Cadillac will be right at home with me at the wheel.

Carbs are acting fine, couple of fresh fuel fillups and a little seafoam and it starts warms up and idles like it should. Will install new timing belt as I find time
