chopper back brake drums???

hi guys,im no mechanic so i got a question.i have a chopper trike,the frame and motor is a 1973 honda 750 and the tank and rear end is from a harley.i have no idea what year the rear end is.i was bleeding the brakes yesterday and the part where the brake line connects (cast) broke off.i have loosened everything i can find on it and the drum wont budge.it doesnt seem like the shoes are holding it.its unlike any drum setup ive seen.the center spindle is on the outside of the drums center.like i say im no mechanic and it may be a dumb question but i cant find anyone who has a clue on how to remove them,any help anyone could give would be a giant help.thanks

ill try to get some pics up of the brakes on the trike today.ill be in the garage most of the day fittin some custom fenders and working on the drums.its looks like the old harley service car rear end.i got a "Harley guy" comeing by today to tell me what it is i actually have under it.its greek to me,never saw anything like it.[IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

im told its an old servicar rear end but i have no idea..any ideas on how to take these off??

thanks,id found some info similar to that on the net,i just wanna make sure its the tapered shaft before i start beating it to death with a mini sledge and a heavy puller.looks like it is but the good new is is that it has anti-seize around the axle so someone has had them off at one time or another.it is still pretty creamy and not gummy so fingers crossed.thanks for the link.it was a big help as well.

Can you slide a "brake spoon" in the back bottom and back off the shoes like a car?

The Drum looks to be the Key and Taper type.....is so, it will require a puller......

That is a servicar rear end. It is supposed to be done with a puller, however you do not have to have one. The lug nut studs are fastened into the brake drum, not the spindle. On my servicar, I jack up wheel off ground with wheel still on. After removing axle nut, tap around outer perimeter of back side of tire with mallet and wheel and drum will come off together. Might take a little longer the first time due to rust in the taper, but be patient. Then remove drum from rim.
