2019 Tri glide Front tire replacment?
Hello fellow trikers
OK. I am getting ready to replace the front tire on my 2019 Tri glide I am going to replace the tire with Dunlop American Elite. My question is can I use a rear tire in the front without any clearance issues?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

I ran an Avon on the 16 with good results now on the 20 i have an Elite to see how it will do. it is a front tire not a rear. seems to be doing well, but will know more by mid or end of this riding season. too soon to tell now. just me but I will not install a rear tire on the front,but to each his own.

I get great mileage out of my American Elite. I have replaced it twice on my 19 Tri Glide. When I put chrome rims on I replaced the Dunlop Signature tires on the rear with Cooper Tires.

You can run a rear tire reversed in the front with no clearance issues...just make sure it is the same size designation as the OEM front tire.Hello fellow trikers

The tire will be a bit closer to the fender than the OEM front, but still plenty of clearance.

Unless I am missing something I don't see the advantage of running a rear tire on the front unless of course there are no front tires available. Am I missing something?

The Avon trike tire is indeed a front time.
When I have my Gold Wing trike, we always ran a rear tire - reversed on the front

The original front tire size is =MT90B16 72 H. Do I replace the front tire with a rear tire Size?

If you do run a rear,, you need to mount it reverse

Front tires have a more rounded profile than rears.The rear puts more rubber to the road.The Avon Trike tire is the exception.

Watch the first 90 seconds of the video. Tire will last much longer...over twice as long.
Then again at the 4:58 second mark, then again 5:17 mark when talking about better traction.

Keven what tire brand do you like to run up front?
I have had great experiences with the rear tire reversed American Elite and with the Avon AV71 trike front tire.
I was going to get another Avon, but they replaced the AV71 with the AV91. I read too many reports of folks not being happy with the AV91 (vibration etc.), so I went with the American Elite again.
However, that was over a year ago, they might have it ironed out by now.

It's had to believe you get poor mileage on front tires, must be the roads. Around here they get over 20 k no problem.
I think the biggest variable is how many curves in the riding and how aggressive one takes the curves. On a Trike, going thru the curves at a brisk pace shaves the rubber right off the tire as it skips across the road.
Below is a video where in 11 miles I probably took off the same amount of rubber from the front tire that would normally take 500-1000 miles of interstate riding.

Yup. I get about 10k out of my American Elites 130/ 60/19. The Tail of the Dragon isnt far away- probably the reason. I have a No- Mar tire changer so its not a problem changing out tires. Last year I paid $135.00 for American Elite front tires and just bought 2 more at $170.00 ea. I think things will get worse before they get better- if ever.
Yup the roads play a major role. Live in TN on the plateau, love the back roads. Got 8k on the stock tire, just turned 12k on the av91, I believe a have a few thousand left on the tire. With amount of mileage and tire wear on the Avon I’m wondering about wet weather. A couple of weeks ago I did the Skyway and the Dragon, the tire didn’t seem hold as well in the turns. Could be my imagination lol.
I had a Avon trike tire mounted on my factory Tri Glide front wheel and from day 1 it had a buzz in the handle bars. So I pulled the wheel and had new wheel bearings installed and the balance rechecked. Same buzz as before, so my buddy had a front wheel with a factory Dunlop on it so I put it on and buzz was gone. So I contacted the shop that installed the tire and told them of the issue and what I found by replacing the wheel, they contacted the tire distribution company and they sent me a new Avon Trike tire. Well after all that it had the same buzz, so I found a complete set of Freewheeler wheels and tires and put them on so now I have the factory wheels with a new Avon on the front wheel sitting in storage. Now others had said they love their Avon trike tire this is just my experience.
I have heard that from more than a few folks, and that is why I went with the Elite.
To be fair, others have run the AV91 with no issues...but it seems a crap shoot, so I just stayed away from it.
btw, never heard this complaint from the AV71's. Not sure what the deal is.
