2009 Tri Glide Rear Brake Assembly

I am needing to replace my rear brake assembly on my 09 Trike. Went to replace the brakes last weekend and notice odd wear on the brake pad and piston, both wearing at an angle. I want to replace the whole assembly as to not sure what the cause of the issue, possible warping of the caliper. Not sure and don't want to have issue on the road. If I could locate used, no problem to rebuild. Rear assemblies are tough to find, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Here is a picture of your rear brakes and mounts, if your rear axle is not bent you may want to check with a dealer to see if these parts are available

Many times the caliper just needs a good cleaning. If it is the leading edge is worn a little more than the following edge that can be normal. If the inboard or outboard pad is worn more than the other, that is a sign of the caliper piston sticking because of dirt/grunge.

A good cleaning along with a brake fluid flush/bleeding can help with these issues.

Remove the caliper(s), clean all parts and around the caliper pistons, inspect the brake pad slider pins and make sure they are not worn, then lube the pins making sure not to get too much on them so as not to get the lube on the brake pads.

Calipers do not usually warp, the rotor warps if it gets too hot.

Replacing the rear calipers will be extremely expensive.

A through inspection by a qualified mechanic will provide the cause of the issue. No sense throwing parts at something if you do not know the cause.

You do not state how many miles are on your ride, that and pictures would provide additional information to the cause, along with any work previously accomplished on your rear brake system.

The only time I have ever seen a caliper piston cock was when it was out of the bore

A warped ( too much runout) rotor will cause the pads to wear cock eyed plus binding caliper slide pins. Any corrosion on sliding areas will cause pads to not move evenly and smoothly promoting uneven wear

Clean the caliper pistons before pushing them back into the bore, clean and lube all slides, wash new rotors with hot soapy water, rinse and blow them dry, assemble the brakes and bleed the system
