​If you ever start seeing black spots in your vision, DONOT ignore it. Ma is going thru an 8 day period where she has to remain face down so the gas bubble that was injected in her bad eye (during eye surgery) can heal the retina where it's pull away from the back of her eye. That's why she originally saw the black spots.

Ma was lucky that she caught her retina problem early or this could have been "face down" for 14 days or more. She's allowed to be vertical 10 minutes out of the hour to go to the bathroom, eat, clean up etc. Major league inconvenience as well as uncomfortable!!! She cries a lot as she HATES!!! this face down thing but it's the only way for the eye to heal itself. It's either this or being blind in that eye. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check you vision in each eye weekly by closing one eye and looking thru the other as this disease can be masked when using both eyes.

Ma doesn't deserve this but it just comes with age, she is the nicest person I've ever known.

Tell Ma she has my sympathies. I had a "macular peel" done several years ago and had the gas injected into my eye. Had to stay face down for a week. The hardest part for me was trying to sleep on my stomach.

I'll pass along what worked best for me. I sat in a comfortable upholstered chair and took one of those horseshoe shaped neck pillows, laid it on a TV tray in front of me and put my forehead and cheeks down into it. With a dark room and earbuds playing soundscape type music, I was able to catch an hour or two of sleep at a time. Hoping for a quick recovery.

Ive had them for years now....AKA Floaters...And since i lost weight and lowered my blood pressure they have for most part disappeared..And yes i have regular eye exams ..My Mother lost her eye sight from diabetes so i'm careful about my eyes..

Floaters are in no way related to a detached retina Bob.

Everybody please get regular eye exams and if anything changes with your vision see a doctor immediately.

Things happen very quickly with your eyes. Shirley and I both can attest to that.

We would both be blind in at least one eye if not for prompt attention.

As an OR nurse, i see to many people have complications from not getting treatment sooner. Also see a doctor when something is not right. Yes it might be gas or it could be colon cancer. Recently it took two trips to emergency 5 days apart to diagnose my second heart attack. No blame to the hospital since my labs came back normal first time and my symptoms subsided. 2 more stents later, all is good. In fact I returned to work 4 days after.

Thank you, Doug. The Lord answered all our prayers in this regard.

Ma's eye doctor released her from "jail" (having to remain face down nearly 24 hours a day). Needless to say Ma is absolutely thrilled. Don't think I could have done that for 8 days. The neighbor that offered to lend her a disc player so she could listen to books on discs was a God-send!I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, very unpleasant but worth it to salvage your sight.PC
