I cannot believe that a customer can be held liable for an employee's negligence.

Yeah, I dunno about the outcome on this one
I read the story and I find it hard to believe the owners would not be liable for this whole mess

Time for the Jeep owner to get a good lawyer. The dealership hires unqualified individuals to operate vehicles and so the vehicle owner is at fault because of someone elses stupidity. If the individual does not know how to drive and has no license, why are they behind the wheel? why are they working in a dealership? How do they test drive a vehicle? The dealership is at fault, not the Jeep owner. When I read the story on Yahoo I just shook my head. Another interesting question is who drove the Jeep into the service area and onto the lift? Why were they not asked to start the Jeep? Funny how when I applied for work in a motorcycle dealership one of the questions asked was do you have a driver's license and a motorcycle endorsement? The dealership is doing a C.Y.A. for hiring an unlicensed mechanic and blaming others. WTF

This is awful - and, unfortunately, right in my back yard. Michigan has some strange laws - and, we are watching this carefully
