Right now Harley has to deal with a bunch of has beens. Guys who want to relive the glory days. You know the latest thing from Harley should look like a a panhead and be 3000 CC's. They want this cause they don't want to have to shift. But heaven forbid they should have an automatic.The old guys think they should be catered to. Of course Harley realizes they all have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Harley needs to change it's not gonna be easy. Old guys don't want change, young guys won't have anything to do with them unless they do change. Sorta like trying to sell a Buick Gran sport to someone who wants a 396 Chevelle. Buick is still your father's car.
Well Sidecarbill I cant fully disagree with you but you lost me at catering to older riders. Thats because its business. We "old guys" usually have the money to spend so HD goes where the money is and satisfies that market. These young cats are broke- college debt,car payments,house/ rent,kids etc. Having said that- I would buy a PanAmerica today if I were 30 years younger! I grew up on enduros....excuse me: "Adventure bikes". I find that Revolution motor interesting- if only they'd make look like a Panhead....
Trouble is catering to the old folks at this time is short sighted. No future in it.

Has anyone ever thought about where the electricity comes from to charge the batteries on any electric vehicle, there's a power plant at the other end of the cord that not only handles homes, businesses and factories, but now someone wants to add additional load to already pushed to the max aging power plants. Just think of your electric bill if it can be plugged into any 110vac outlet. Build an electric motorcycle and they will buy it seems to be the mentality of the 'Green' crew. Think of the expense at your home to put in a special charger for a commuter bike, the cost to apartment complex operators and businesses.
If HD is focusing on the older generation with money and putting their eggs in that basket, that's not smart. Those up in age have already purchased the latest model and it will most likely be their final bike/trike. Younger people want 'Affordable' bikes and that is why they purchase Japanese motorcycle which are more to their liking in style.
Its the rush to get us less dependent on fossil fuel and a rush to electric vehicles without any planning.

The “green crew” are so blind it’s pathetic. The precious metal mines burn how many millions if not hundreds of millions of gallons of high sulfur diesel fuel per year. The earth can only supply the metals for another 10-20 years or so. So in essence it’s a big circle jerk, a way to make money for certain circles, and then revert back to the original problem without fixing anything. Rant over, lmao
