    Default TriGlides & IRS?

I was talking with some H-D riders at coffee last evening and 1 guy said the new 2022's are Independent Rear Suspension! I did a search and was unable to confirm this.

    Can anybody confirm?

Is H-D still using Lehman rears?

No change. Same solid axle as since 2009. If it had (or ever changes) it would shake the world and you would have no trouble verifying it.

NO They have the same straight axle like they did in 1937 , but it's not a rigid frame , they put cheap shock's on it now so it ride's the same .

    Default IRS

You have to wonder where their heads are at! Most trike kit manufacturers are only offering IRS on their kits. Even ATV's are independent.

    Nostalgia at 2022 prices!!!

Ya know. If Harley-Davidson ever decide to put in an Independent Suspension, They would make a killing on there're Tri-Glides. I would definitely buy one. Had a chance to drive one of those front wheel trike's once. The front end had the Independent Suspension. Never felt any bumps that I ran over. So smooth. Of coarse, I would never buy one. Just saying.

Wow - it'd be great to have IRS but can you imagine what the price of the Tri-Glide would be then???

Aftermarket IRS units run somewhere around $7k installation extra.

Harley would have to price a plain jane Tri-Glide north of $40k.

A CVO would be in the $65k range.

    OMG!

    Talk about crazy!

I think a plain jane trike is already north of $40K. Even buying that , several folks then add the DK lift kit, and several other things to make the bike perform/handle better.

I agree Harley would make a killing if they introduced an independent suspension. They could do so much more - as an example, I see aftermarket running boards for about $1000. All of this stuff makes the bike look nicer.

In my case, I converted my 2021 Harley Ultra to a CSC. That bike was north of $33K - then I paid $18K for the kit and installation. So, I al already talking $51K. Yes, prices however, my wife and I loved what we got - and, this includes an 11 degree powertrack ( rake) that makes the bike steer so nice.

I have read some of your comments earlier -so, what is driving your thoughts?

Think at one point you worried about putting the extra money in your 07. Given all of the other things I have read and since you already for a 14 TriGlide, might it work OK if you converted that rear to independent suspension?

Here's a weird thought....ask CSC about the possibility of taking you TriGlide rear end off and completely putting a CSC rear end on. Say you get $1K for your 2014. Then you put that $17K in the 2007. You'll have just one bike and, as I recall that is a 96cc. Was at a diffeent dealership the other day, guy pulled in with his TriGlide and we were talking about this very thing

If you sold the 2007 and got say $10K - well, you can out that into the 2014 for a complete upgrade, including the 11% power rake. Not sure you can use the TriGlide reverse - ask CSC. Reverse cost me about$1500.

This way, you have a 2014 with the 5 year CSC warranty and the 103. Plus, if you like, you can upgrade to the GTS radio.

Hey, am I good at spendng your money or what - just things to consider.

Cycle, at this point I am really up in the air about what I want to do. Don’t get me wrong, my 14 TG is not complete junk, I did upgrade the suspension so it’s better. My 07 has a transplanted 103HO from a 14 Street Glide with only about 20000 miles on it. My questions for when I visit are all the ones I have thought of and to see their operation. I like to see different manufacturers and visit plants. Recently visited a Diaper manufacturing plant and a wet wipe manufacturing plant…Worked in manufacturing in the past … I am not ready to pull the plug yet, I still need to think finances… getting closer to retirement.

My main thoughts about a CSC, the independent rear suspension, storage seems to be similar, braking power seems to be a bit easier to get from the CSC. The negatives for the CSC is the width…that might be a positive for stability, I don’t know. The rest is really not that important. I can install a power track steering on either my 14 TG Or a converted 07.

Lack of IRS on the Tri Glide is the main reason I am in the process of having a Road Smith Kit installed on my CVO. On a side note last week I did have a guy swear to me that his Tri Glide came with IRS. I hope I let him down easy enough....

I don’t think the cost difference with the irs would be that much more. If you take the rear end and suspension parts of the current tri/fw and put it on paper, I don’t think the cost difference would be as different as we think. Redesign of the body work will add a little of course, but I think the biggest issue is getting a patent on their design. Unless they have some radical design tucked away, they will have to pay royalties to someone. That said I had heard rumors that irs was in development, but as we all know…….. lol.

You are of sound mind - take your time and make the best decision possible. A trike conversion will indeed cost upwards of $18K. If you do that with the 07 running the 103, I think you will have all the power you need.

You mentioned the CSC width - yep, about 63 inches but I have found that this is not a problem. I have highway pegs on my bars and just decided to leave them down - sort of helps remind me when I pull into a gas station. Have been riding this trike for just a couple of weeks now and haven't has a worry.

The rake kit will definitely be a plus - do it no matter what you get. For CSC the one con was you cannot add the extra gas tank. Not sure I even needed it but, think it may be nice to have. Still, my bike says I can travel over 200 miles on a tank and I now believe that is more than enough for my needs.

Finally, it summer time, ride all you can and look at this over the winter

If I am reading this correctly, someone has already done it - make the TriGlide Independent suspension. Looks like about $11K
