Things started changing long ago. 1st there was the "no loud pipes" thing. They had cops stopping almost all the Harleys to check if the pipes were stock or not. (a NY thing?) The bikers all told the locals they weren't coming back and didn't! Soon there after they stopped the pipe check. Then they motels all got together and decided to institute a 4 day minimum. Crowds started to wane. The price of registering kept going up (we stopped doing that years ago) The price of going to the venders also was getting out of line. It's been down hill ever since.. The whole covid thing and now the economy has put one of the final nails in the coffin. I think in the future the town is going to have to take it over if they want to save any part of the whole Americade experience. I know the local shop owners count on it to the start their season.
