    Default Codes

    Hi guys and gals,

First I'd like to thank everyone who helped me make the changes I did over

the winter. You guys know who you are, so thanks!

Over the weekend I checked my codes and this is the

only one that came up. BCM b2285h pn. 41000341E

I can't find out what it is. Anybody know?

    TIA. Rich

I cleared code, bike still runs the same.

I'm waiting to see if it comes back.

    Will let you know

That is a BCM code, It is a historic code read here,

B2285H= a battery voltage problem, have you done any lighting changes recently?

If a particular problem happens to resolve itself, the active status

problem is dropped and it becomes a historic code rather than a current code.

Intermittent output shorts can become typical historic codes.

Historic codes are stored for 50 ignition cycles.

It is important to note that historic codes will exist whenever the system

indicates the existence of a current fault.

The second number is the reference for the part number ( it shows you the module that reported the code) being the BCM

Also take note of the E at the end of the part number, that tells you it is # 5 in a parts run( means it has superseded 4 other production runs

Thanks Jack, over the winter I changed my handle bars and had the front fairing off.

I had to unplug light. Could that be the problem? I didn't change bulb (led).

I cleared code, if it comes back, is there anything I can follow up with?

Right now HD has not released enough info on some of these newer M8 codes

Seems to me they are having software codes but will not admit it, as long as you can clear the code and your bike runs OK I would not worry too much for now( by admission of some techs they do not even know what this and some other codes are)

As far as the LED light, it is possible the BCM saw something it did not like voltage wise, but if that is it once erasing that code it should not have come back IMO

You could also try another dealer if you have one close by, if the code does come back, snap a picture of it just for grins

Has your Trike had the newest software flash?

You can see what others have said in this thread

    https://www.triketalk.com/forum/thre...le-codes/page2

Imo HD is guessing at best with these codes

I have had my 2019 Tri Glide since August of 2018. I have gotten that code from day one. I still get it. If I clear the code at night and start the bike in the morning I have the code. If I clear the code at night and the bike was on a battery tender all night when I take it off the tender and start the bike I don't have the code. It's always been that way. Dealer said it was a battery voltage problem but that's all they could tell me. All updates and upgrades are up-to-date. I have attributed it to a very sensitive voltage sensor. If someone else has a better suggestion I would like to hear it.

I agree with what you are posting here, it just seems so strange to have a voltage issue like this

I am not seeing this issue yet with my 21 FLRT, I am guessing it is not a unique problem to just the Triglides? The can bus system rears its ugly head once again

I do keep mine on a battery maintainer always

Jack, try not putting it on the battery maintainer for a night and see if you get the code in the morning. I assume it has a security system on it so it uses a minut amount of power overnight.

Dale, I let it go without the tender for 2 days recently and have no problems

I scan mine for codes on a weekly basis, every Sunday night

My 17 Freewheeler had a historic code for the oil sender switch, I finally after about 2 weeks clearing the code bought the sender and put it on

It was still under warranty, but I would have to make an appointment, I did it myself

Very good. I'm glad you have no problems Jack. I've learned to ignore that code when I check for other codes, which is often.

I don't usually put it on a battery tender until the nights start getting cool here in Central North Carolina.

Best of luck to you, it is a good thing you have chosen to ignore that pesky code, but I do wish HD could come up with a sure fire answer

It defies electrical logic plus not all models are affected

A long as we are talking codes. I just checked for codes this morning. Besides the normal b2285h I had b2141h --LF turn sig output open and b2146 --RF turn sig output open. Don't know why. All cleared and all good. Go figure.
