I'm getting ready to change mine shortly. I'm going to change the retainer plates to and used DK retainer.plates.

Thanks, I don’t know to much about bearing manufacturing, just looking for a real good set. So many are made in different parts of the world, guess it’s a crap shoot.

I went with the National Bearing (Federal Mogul) 208 FF. Was able to get them local. Ordered my plates DK as well.

Good choice, that is the same bearing number as a Timken

When I did the bearing retainer plates on my trike I took Jack Klarich's advice and very carefully removed one seal and was shocked to see how little grease was in them, so I packed them with some high temp grease and replaced the seal.

Steve, Jack, that’s what I’ll be doing as well in the next couple of days as I wait for the plates to get here. Now trying to find somebody with a big enough press is the next order of business. Thanks to all.

Truck garage should be able to help with a big press, been a few yrs since in Crossville ,but seems like there was one , north side of I 40

I have a 15 ton press and was able to get the bearing off the short axle, but ended up taking the long axle to the HD shop to have it removed and replaced.

So when I popped open the seal for the new bearings, I was truly shocked at the lack of grease. I got some Lucas high temp axle grease and packed them using the palm method, all went well. Found a small machine shop, got the DK plates and new bearings put on, and the the trike is back on the road. The stock plates are flat, but had some bearing marks on them, maybe flexing on the curves, but did have some signs of holding water. So the o-ring should take care of that. Didn’t get out except for a neighborhood test, as the skies were going to bring some much needed rain. Thanks to all.
