No, RTFM, nowhere does it say you have to wait to start your bike, is it a good idea to wait, MAYBE, but if you are stalled in an intersection I bet you would not wait

This, I agree If you had to wait in an intersection with a stalled engine you could be facing very bad and unexpected JUJU

Well, here we go again. Was on a ride last week. 200 miles in, we stopped for lunch. Backed in a parking spot. Put the parking brake on. (Trike ran good all day). Got our meal. Went to start it up. Wouldn't start. Light's all over the dash. Had to put it in neutral to get it started. Went down to the river to eat lunch. Afterwards. I checked all the codes. One of them was, Rear brakes Configuration error. First thought was, the problem with one of the rear brakes locking up, causing it to veer off and causing an accident. Anyone else hear of a problem with the 2022 Trikes? Plus, I had several other codes. Got an appointment with a different dealership for this Friday. (10-21-22) I'm getting really tired of the code problems. Talked to one of the sales guy there. He stated, they have been having a ton of code issues with the 2022's. Harley's got a big problem on their hands. (That they won't up to).

I don’t get it,things must be different on the 22 model I have a 2020 model and I must put it in neutral all the time to start it. Apparently on the 2022 TG you have you can start it in gear with the clutch pulled in correct?

Jerry, I feel for you and really hope you get things sorted out soon. My next comment has no bearing on your problem but I noticed you stated having to put your bike in neutral to start it. I’ve always started in neutral (except stalled and in danger). Seems the engine spins easier with less strain on the battery and starter. Maybe I read that wrong and maybe it really doesn’t matter. Just my opinion.

Normally, I start my trike in gear. But with certain codes where it won't start in gear, I have to put it in neutral. Once the codes are clear, it goes back to where I can start it gear.

It should start in gear. On an early model trike that I had; it wouldn't start in gear. Found out it needed a new switch; Harley replaced it and work fine from then on.

Check your MAXI Fuse and see if it is loose or appears to be melted. I had an issue with my 2019 throwing codes and intermittently shutting down for a few seconds then recovering and running. Through a bunch of codes.

Found the MAXI Fuse looked melted on one side, guess it was loose in the fitting.

Took it out, cleaned the female terminals, bent them closer together with a thin pair of needle nose pliers, reinstalled a new MAXI Fuse and have not had problems since.

Winter project is to replace the MAXI Fuse holder and female terminals, have everything except the female terminals as they are back ordered.

This problem could be fixed @ the factory if The MOCO would use a bolt in type Maxi fuse similar to ones used by the Auto industry

Agreed, with all the vibration it is a wonder any of the fuses stay put.

Indeed, I have made it part of my weekly checklist, I hate surprises

I find it strange so many have electrical problems yet fail to check the obvious

All things electrical should include, checking fuses and their receptacles, and number 1 on the hit parade should IMO always be the health of the battery, checking cable ends and clean and tight connections

A poor mans load test @ home can be done very easily with a voltmeter hooked up @ the battery, observe the cranking volts when starting your ride

If the cranking volts drop below 10 volts, you can most often bet your battery is going South

And dont try to get "one more charge" out of it. Replace it. I like to test the regulator/rectifier before installing the new battery. No sense throwing good money after bad or chasing my tail trying to figure out why batteries dont last.

    An absolute must IMO

Too many simple and overlooked things can cause a premature failure

    See this link for testing

Latest update. Took the trike to the third dealership to fix the problem I've been having. 1st. they hooked up their machine. They found a bunch of codes. (5). I left the dealership. A couple hours later they called and asked me how I looked up the codes. Everybody knows how to look up the codes. Another 2 hours later they said it was fixed. I went to pick up the trike. They charged me $155.00 for the diagnostics and road test. Of course, I raised hell. I thought they were going to kick me out of the store. Well, I paid it. About a week or two, I got a survey from the Mothership. Was not happy. They got a hold of the dealer about my poor service. They called the next day, apologizing about everything. They said they were going to give me my money back. Which they did. But the trike, still not fixed. Got a recall notice from Harley-Davidson for the rear brake. Not sure what that involves. Probably, software update, maybe some harness replacement. So, the saga continues. Jerry.

Years ago I would see a Freightliner owner operator that had his newly introduced Columbia Class truck painted with big lemons all over the hood and cab. The nice paint job also included: "I bought this lemon at: ..."and the dealership name.....it was a Tennessee dealer.

Jerry.
Sorry to hear about your continued issues. Curious - what is wrong with the bike now?

Also, the recall notice is about the brake switch on your trike. When open, the light will come on. Also, if open, the cruise will now work. Mine was a software update - yours should be a switch replacement

    Thumbs up

Just to close out this thread. I did take it to another dealership. They had it for two days. They called and said it was fixed. They said the found a lose ground wire on the frame. Well that was just before Sturgis '23. Evidentially, that was the problem. Went to Sturgis this year and not one issue. So far everything has been working great. Great news, I hope you have this solved once and for all

Your Trike has been thru enough dealers you would think 1 good tech would have found this long ago

When I am in doubt about grounds I will add extra grounds just for grins, this has worked good for me with the way these machines vibrate

I am big on following a complete electrical system check always, these damn ground issues pop up too many times and should be easier to diagnose IMO

    Best of luck
