    Default Getting used to the FW

    After having a 2006 conversion, updated to a 2016 FW. Love it, but was taking it slow to get used to braking system and the power!!! Yesterday, I stopped being "skittish". Went in traffic and on highway. So different and easier to maneuver. Did about 110 miles. On the hgwy, check engine and the red security dot lit up. I got off the highway & shut down. The warnings did not come back. Today I will see the diagnostic codes; hopefully, it was just a quirk. Hate to have to bring it in to Harley. The dealers here take forever IF you can get someone to look at it. I'm wondering: Used bike with less than 55K miles. Possible previous owner did not break it in properly and me on the highway simply pushed it over the limit? Thanks!

    Are you sure its the security icon or the oil pressure icon? If its a dot its the oil pressure- probably the p.o.s. sensor/ switch. Ive replaced two on my '18.Its the reason I added the A1 oil pressure gauge. If its a key icon then check your fob batteries.

    Thanks. It was the red dot and the engine icons showing on the speedometer. Hope all goes well with the diagnostics. Now I'm ticked I went out of state to get the bike......duh.

    The same lights came on about a year after I bought my brand new 2015. It was the rear brake light switch. I was so happy Jack posted the codes because I was able to call the local shop to be sure the part was in stock before I headed that direction.

    Linnie, if it requires a trip to the shop, consider a good independent, rather than dealers you don’t have confidence in. Ask around for recommendations. They have to maintain a good reputation or they are out of business. Harley techs, not so much. Good luck and welcome to triketalk.

    Always first thing to check is the battery, clean and tight connections

    Look for 12.5 volts to 12.75 volts for a fully charged battery
