HELP Bought an old girl with some problems!!!

Hi from the west of Scotland I bought a 1984 Honda Goldwing Aspencade with not a lot working right.

Got the air suspension working connected the back brakes back up (piston not connect to foot pedal) attached 40mm/1.5inc to improve travel of pedal.

The radio does not stay in and is not connected to the wiring loom at the back. the clock will not set and just flashes the trip does not work and neither does the speedometer.

but my big problem is that at at 40mph the rpm is about 5000 and 60mph red flashing light at 6500. 17" wheels on the back and it seams like a ford escort mk2 backend.

What can I do to reduce the the rpm. "NOOB" I no nothing about gear ratios.

Welcome to TT.

Don't know for sure but sounds like you have gear ratio problem. Google specs for your model and they should provide the factory final drive ratio. Then raise the rear end on one side high enough to gain access to the driveshaft. mark the wheel and driveshaft with index marks. Rotate the drive shaft slowly by hand and count the number of revolutions to get the wheel to turn one complete revolution. This should provide you with the approximate diff ratio. You can then look into re-gearing the diff or adjusting the tire size up to lower the number of revolutions per KM.

Maybe some our Goldwing trike members with the same vintage trikes can chime in with their conversions final drive ratios.
