Passenger grab rails

When I sold my 2012 Ultra Limited I kept the passenger grab rails. I thought I would put them on the Tri-Glide as the wife really misses them. Don't fit! After checking Harley's parts catalog I find they won't fit a trike at all and none are listed for a 2009-2012 Tri-Glide. Has anyone modified a set of Ultra Classic grab rails to work for these trikes? I can't seem to find an aftermarket set either. It seems like there should be a way to reconfigure the stock ones so they will work but my mind just can't seem to get a handle on it. (no pun intended)

It is surprising that they don't fit.

Here is another possibility that was shown to me by a Customer. It is something I am considering doing.

You can use some Freewheeler handles, with very slight trimming, and put them on a Tri Glide. Here is a photo of them-

You didn't say what year of trike you have but I'm gonna say a 2012, have you search everywhere for these, basically I did a little research and found some on Parts Giant and they are from Drag, around $109 I believe, look on amazon, ebay, I'm sure you can find some and if it a 2012 maybe they didn't have grab bars on them at all, I don't know for sure, I would check with harley dealer also. As Kevin said I'm surprised you couldn't get the ones off your limited to work or maybe modify it a little to work, just a thought. I know when I bought my 2016 the grab bars were in the tour pak and I had them put them back on with a bunch of other work I had done before picking up, I now have a 2018.

Grab Bars

I have looked at all of the usual places. Harley, Amazon, Ebay and the general internet. I find everyones part will fit a tri-glide '13 and up. Some even say theirs won't work with a Hammock seat. It has the seat off the Limited and it worked with it. I am going to cut the mount and do a little hammering, bending and twisting to see what I can do.

If you ruin it hammering & twisting on it. I have a spare one.

Grab bars

I put them on my 2010 FLHXXX with the Hammock seat, had to trim the foam just a little so the bar fit, worked GREAT, I’ve had this setup for probably close to 10 years now and NO ISSUES……..Love it (also use the drivers backrest from time/time).

Hooe this helps!

I just looked on E-Bay. They had 3 used listings for the passenger hand rails. $39.00 to $49.00. for the 2012 tri-glide. Hope this helps.

I just removed my passenger rails to install a tallboy seat and backrest on my 2013 TG. I had an adjustable backrest and stock seat. The seat would not fit correctly with the rails and the gap in the seat was not inline with the receiver in the adjustable backrest mount.

More parts on the shelf and another hundred dollars later all is good.

passenger grab rails

I bought a 2014 Tri glide and removed the stock rails and replaced them one from a 2010 street glide. The stock ones dug into my wife's legs because they sat too high, and she is 5'1". They were not supposed to fit but I had no problem installing them.

Grab Rail padding

has anyone added better grip to the existing passenger grab rails? Wife complains that the thin metal is tough on her hands. Harleys sells a set but says it won't fit a 2018 trike. Dennis Kirk had some but looks like discontinued.
