Heritage Windshield on the freewheeler

I,ve read that a Road King shield will fit on the Freewheeler but leaves a gap around the headlight. So what about a shield from a Softail? I,ve been looking for a used shield but not sure what years and models fit. I have a 22 Freewheeler. Seems like the bracket measures 14.5 across and 7.75 high. I rode the 65 miles up to St. Joe Yesterday and above 55 mph the wind blast to my chest and head was brutal. Especially if around a 18 wheeler. I need a shield but won't pay Harley 400 bucks for one.I could buy a fairing for a little more.

I can’t render any advice on what years fit what.

However the pictures below are of a 21 inch Klockwerks windshield that was on/purchased for a 2019 Heritage that’s now on my 2016 Freewheeler.

The mounting brackets for at least a 2019 Heritage are the same spacing as the 2016 Freewheeler however they have different mounting points so they are not interchangeable.

I wouldn’t think the years would make a difference.

My Freewheeler came with an OEM windshield on it so all I had to do was swap the shields using the same brackets.

I’m not sure if the Road King brackets are the same as the Freewheeler, you might have to ask the Dealer.

But even if you find a softail windshield you’re still going to have to get a set of Road King/Freewheeler brackets.

Road King brackets will work, I purchased a nice 21 in. Road King windshield off Facebook local for

125.00 and ran it for a few months before I swapped out the windshield for the FreeWheeler model.

Only difference I found was the spring clips on the Road King shield, the FreeWheeler does not use them.

If you want to stay cheap just keep the Road King shield and roll you a towel around the extra space on bottom.

I have one off a freewheeler, went to a faring so won't need it. My freewheeler is red so bottom part of windshield has red tint. I see your in the K.C. area, so am I. Even if you don't like the red you can take it for a ride to see if it works for you.

So they take Road King brackets and a smaller shield for the headlight cutout. Interesting. Copbiker, thanks for the offer to try out a windshield that sounds great. Maybe we can get together over the holiday weekend if the weather's good. davekp, I might be interested. Sent u a message pigfoot63, I,ve seen a aftermarket fairing with a wind deflector mounted above the headlight of the freewheeler to divert some of the wind away from the headlight opening. I,m not sure if the fairing was for a different bike or not. It was on a used 2018 freewheeler I looked at. Sounds like a Road King windshield would work for now. Thanks to all who replied. KIB

I also installed a front tank lift and wind deflectors from DK Custom Products. That re-directs the wind from coming over the tank to flowing under the tank where it needs to be in the first place to cool the motor.

What fairing did you go with? Does it have a stereo and speakers?

I went with Woody's Farings, but I think he's retired now. They are similar to Hoppes, he worked for them and then went on his own. It is quick removeable as it uses the stock windshield mounts. I chose the non-stereo model as I found the sound of the motor to be the "music to my ears", but they come either way.
