Hello All,

Purchased a used 2016 Triglide a few months ago. It appears to have the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 upgrades. The exhaust is so loud I have to wear earplugs when riding it and my buddies don't want to ride behind me. This got old on a 2500 mile trip we did the last two weeks. So, am looking for a pair of quieter exhaust cannisters. Looked at the cans on it now and there are no brand markings or model numbers that I can see. Any recommendations?

These Cobra 909-Twins 4" Slip-On Mufflers have my attention since they can be had for a reasonable (to me anyway) price.

A pair of thunder toques from DK might be worth looking into for the noise problem…

The screaming eagles I have on my 17 TG aren't that bad.

The Thunder Torques actually made the sound better than they did when I had them put on.

Does yours still have the baffles in?

Bob

I had the dealer put Street Canons on my 2015 at the time of purchase but I did keep the originals. I'm guessing they would work on a 2016 but not sure. I could make them available.

Yes they will work on a 16. When I traded my 16 trike in on my 17 I kept the SE mufflers and put them on my 17. The muffler inlet is the same as the 16 down because it attaches to the pipe that runs under the swing arm, not directly to the head pipe like a 2 wheeler.

Stock mufflers with 90 miles

The main selling point of the COBRA is that they are louder than stock mufflers....

At 90 miles I replaced my stock mufflers with Screamin' Eagle FatShotz Part Number: 80847-10.

Although my bike is a 21 Freewheeler, the HD site states "This part fits your 2016 Tri Glide Ultra."

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/Screamin-Eagle-FatShotz-2-Into-2-Slip-On-Mufflers/p/80847-10

Which is the long way of saying that it seems that my take-off mufflers will fit your bike.

First thing am going to do is pull one of the baffles and see if the packing is still in place. If not, will repack them and see how they sound.

Keep us posted, I welded a washer on the end of my baffle, it muffled the sound a bit and made my Jackpots way better sounding

Could not get the baffles out with the tools I had on hand today. So am going to try the Thunder Torques.

Thunder Torques installed. No reduction in loudness as measured by an SPL meter about 6' behind and 2' off the ground. ~105 dB at idle before and after installation.

EDIT: However, a just completed test ride revealed the perceived loudness is reduced highway speeds. Think I could ride this trike now for extended periods without having to use earplugs. The backfiring and popping on deceleration is much improved also it seems.

What it bothers you! That when some jughead pulls up next to a light and you’re sitting at an outdoor restaurant and starts revving his engine and thinks those people over there in the restaurant think I’m cool when the people in the restaurant looking over at the Jughead thinks he’s a “A” Hole…

I like my bike to have a decent rumble when I get on the throttle but mellow on the interstate. I don’t think I could own a Goldwing and keep it quiet. I would have to make it louder. I test drove a CSC DCT Wing and when I got back to the dealership I told the owner I felt like I was driving a convertible Accord. Other than that it was a beast.

in the past, I have rode with friends that wanted me to ride in the back of the pack because my pipes were too loud, over time I changed pipes and with adding music I have turned to mellowed pipes .
