I'm going to do my bike and just curious if any brand of brake fluid you use instead of the harley brand. I seen Super tech dot 4 at walmart at a very nice price.

I have used Super Tech in the past, fluids all have to be made to DOT standards as far as I remember, Wearever @ Advance Auto is also good

Thanks Jack, just curious I have seen some that are synthetic and some not, not sure about this, I found some valoline brake fluid that is synthetic with 480 degree temperature, sounds good anyway
What is your thought Jack, basically to me brake fluid is brake fluid

THe synthetic will serve you well, I used some to bleed my brakes recently, remember buy only what you will be using short term, the clock is ticking the minute you break the seal on the container
The idea behind synthetic is it can absorb more moisture before raising the boiling point

Thanks Jack for the info, I know when opened get it done and over with. Just have to decide on valoline at $4.00 or super tech at $3.30, both are synthetic, guess depends on which place I go to first when shopping LOL. The harley one is around $8.00 here.

I just learn'd yesterday, that Dot4 brake fluid is also the same, as the clutch fluid, found in a Honda Goldwing.........
How many of you "honestly" knew that???

Download the safety data sheets and compare. Theres no magic elixir.
Been using Dot 4 in most every system for quite a long time where Dot 3 is called out for, just as using Dexron ATF in hydraulic cylinders for many years

This is a update, finally got the trannie cover off, what a piece of crap the way harley design this, can't believe how much you have to loosen to get this off, I've watch several videos and most take the 2 screws out and there it is, must be after market exhaust, mine is stock so had to loosen more than I wanted but got it out and while it was out, I cut the dang thing down, went a little at a time and finally got it to where I can take it out and in with no problems, basically I tighten everything up and then went from there, slow process but won't have to worry about it again in 2 years if I'm still riding, with spinal stenosis, I don't know if I will or not, hope so. After the year I have had I didn't start riding until July 30th and now have around 1,100 miles this year, not much by some of you but for me that is good.
Plan on doing the clutch fluid and the brakes tommorrow or at least my plan anyway, I bought 3 cans of brake fluid, hope that is enough, if not the store is only a couple miles away.
