Where the rubber meets the road.
Put Michelin Defenders on the rear of the trike a couple of weeks ago. Seem to be a bit less harsh than the stock Dunlop rubber. The trike also seems to handle a bit tighter in slower corners than the old tires ever did. Although I’ve been happy with the Dunlop American Elite on the front I might be considering the Michelin Commander III. Any pros/cons on this tire? The reviews I’ve read are all over the place. Didn't notice any reviews for a Tri-Glide.

Mine had a Commander II on the front when I bought it and Defenders on the rear. I went with another CMDR II when I needed a tire and will go with the CMDR III when the next one is needed. I have never had a complaint with the ride as far as tires were concerned so I see no reason to change. I will buy another set of Defenders when it's time to replace the rears. I put about 10k miles on the first CMDR II after I bought the trike (It had about 20k total on it) and have about 12-15k on the current one and it's still good. The defenders have about 40k on them total according to the service records from the previous owner and they are still plenty good. I can't complain about them.

I have them on mine front and back. I like them better than the stock tires.
My experience has been, with the ability to change tires with my No Mar tire machine....you really cant go wrong with any of the name brand tires on the front. It comes down to wear between different brands and that has more to do with riding style and where you ride. Commuting on a four lane blacktop will wear differently than concrete. The good news is- your gonna need to change that front tire sooner rather than later on a trike so dont be worried your stuck with that particular tire for a long time.
Switched to goodyear on the back after the Dunlops wore out.
Did not like the Dunlop on the front and only got 10K out of it.
Switched to Avon's for the next 3 and was getting around 20K from them except the last one I hit a deer with about 7K on it and the fender tore it up.
Heard enough good things about the Commander 3 so I am trying out but only got 250 miles on it before my top end decided to come apart.
So, when I get it back, we will see how far I get with it, I did like the way it rode while I had it.

The stock Dunlop front tire lasted about 11K. Put on the Avon Trike tire and had it yanked after 2K. I was not impressed with the AVON at all. It would start vibrating between 65 & 75 MPH.
Gone through 2 Dunlop American Elites with 18K on the first and about 15K on the current tire. I’m a little OCD so I figured if there are Michelins on the back there should be a Michelin on the front.
