Flash to Pass Settiing
If you press the Flash To Pass switch should the headlight flash continuously or just flash once requiring multiple presses of the switch to make it actually flash? The manual infers the headlight should flash repeatedly while holding the switch down, but I don't get that result and it can be handy in certain situations. Busy intersections with vehicles wanting to cross your path to get to the other side and your in the way type of situations.

When you Flash the brights you are in essence given permission to other drivers to come out in front of you at an intersection or when they are passing you to go into your lane of travel....

I've found different signals being used in different regions. For example, when following a vehicle on a 2-lane road in Mexico (or even close to Mexico) when a driver turns the left turn signal on, it doesn't (necessarily) mean they are turning left, but rather they are indicating to you that it is OK to pass them. Regardless of flashing and signals, we all need to have situational awareness for our own safety. I do not count on any light signals from others. Even green traffic lights have me looking both ways at the intersection for red light runners..... and we have a lot of them here in Arizona..... Jim

In Jersey turn signals are optional....And Red lights have the Jersey 15 seconds rule' IE; After it turns Red you have an extra 15 seconds to blast though it....

I would agree if two vehicles are stopped facing each other at an intersection and one wants to turn left, say. The other vehicle will flash their lights letting you know it's ok to make your turn. I wish they wouldn't do that . Traffic going straight across has the right of way. Just cross the intersection and get out of my way. Traffic coming down the street while the two of you are across from each other have to wait for you to pass, IF they are paying attention and being that this is NJ they probably aren't. That's the situation when I might try flashing my lights at them as I approach.
That would not work here I don't need or want the vehicle I am following to decide when I may pass. Now that being said I have pulled in a turning lane or a wide spot in the road to let traffic pass when we are just out for a pleasure ride.
As far as flashing the light that is the way it works on every vehicle I have had, pull the switch and the bright lights come and stay on until you release it. (car, truck or bike)

Well Woodman, lol. You are riding a Honda now, the HD's do have a flash button for a quick flash. It also works the HD garage door opener. I don't know if it continually flashes if you hold it . Have to try it next time. Snow on the ground now ,so wont be riding for a bit now. Hope Triney keeps you in line.

As I said every vehicle that I have had, you can call it what ever but you pull the switch the bright lights come on you let the switch go and they go off.Well Woodman, lol.
