    Default Old oil

Hi Guys, Sorry I've been away for a couple years recuperating from having a brain tumor removed. Sold my 2019 Tri after the brain operation and I'm doing better now and found me a trike that I pick up tomorrow. It's a 2019 bought new and the owner got sick and passed away. I am buying it from his wife but it only has 240 miles on it.

If he bought it new that oil should be changed before I try to drive it home right? It's about a 300 mile trip. Maybe I should just trailer it. What do you pros out there think? Also I always used all Redline on my others but is it too soon to go full synthetic Redline? Can't wait to get back on the road. I'll post pics when I get it. Thanks.

You haven’t ridden in a couple of years, it’s cold, and it needs fluids. I would trailer it. Glad you’re doing well and welcome back. Best of luck and congrats on your new ride!

Welcome back Jerry…. Trailer it home, you don’t want to find a problem on a 3 hundred mile trip ’ You haven’t ridden a trike in quite a few years.. and as far as synthetic oil you can use it anytime…

Welcome back, I do not like surprises so I would say trailer it home and give it a good inspection

Change all of the fluids including brake and clutch fluids, this way you can start your own maintainance records

    Best of luck to you

Make sure all fluid levels are good, tire pressure ok, then- ride that suckaa! Youll be back in the groove within 5 miles. Download the safety data sheet for the oil(s) your intrested in and compare the magical ingredients (none).

    Jerry,

i’m in the camp to not ride it home as is. Have you considered having a dealer nearby check it out and change the fluids. Most are not busy so you might find one willing to pick it up at no charge.

    Congrats on your new ride!

    Trailering isn't a bad idea.

You may want to check your VIN for this important recall, get it done pronto if it has not been done, also another good reason to trailer it to your local HD shop to have rcalls done

Plus 2 on the recalls.. Also tires need to be checked for cracking. 4 yr old tires sitting all this time. I would vote for trailering also Best of luck & welcome back.
