new guy from near Charleston WV

Thanks for accepting me into the group! My name is Eddie and I just acquired what appears to be a 98 gl1500 se with a CSC trike kit. It is a project I'm hoping to fix up and get on the road with my wife. She would never ride with me on 2 wheels lol. The PO passed on and his daughter sold it to me as I want to pickup where he left off. I will be keeping her in the loop as we make our way ahead hopefully in the right direction.

The bike needs a LOT of TLC and we are hoping the community will be a valuable resource. The family hasn't found the keys so I can't try to start it or mess with it much. Can we get keys made from the VIN number?

Welcome to Trike Talk ‘Ed.👍👍..

And just a shot in the dark… if there’s a liner in the top box or the trunk, lift it up and look under the previous owner might’ve hid a spare key there..?

Thanks Bob! I didn't see anything in the upper trunk. I haven't figured out exactly how to open the CSC trunk yet. I know it is supposed to have a hidden cable to pull but haven't seen it yet. Nor a button to release it if it had power. I plan to make a post in the proper section with a list of things I already see needing tended to.

Eddie, welcome to Trike Talk! Don't know if CSC did it back then but they put an emergency release cable under the seat in the past few years. Maybe look up under the seat area from both sides behind the motor. It will open the bottom trunk.

Hello & :welcome: to Trike Talk. :clapping:

Looks like a good project. You'll get it running.

:wave4:Welcome to Trike Talk Eddie!!!To either side of the release for the trunk is the release handles for the saddlebags. One of those should release the trunk.I'm not familiar with CSC of that generation but the emergency release may be hanging on front of the trunk. If you can get under it you may see it.There is probably a hose hanging there also but that is from the air compressor.
