Thread: Battery Access Modification

  1. #1

    Default Battery Access Modification

Wayne and I like to work on projects together so we've put our heads together on several to
make our Stallion a bit more comfortable and user-friendly (another to follow in an additional thread).

We found that the Stallion's battery was difficult to access (L rear tire must be removed).
We drilled a hole near the CD player in the trunk and ran #9 electrical wire to the battery
for easier jumping and charging. To finish it off Wayne made a wing-nut bolt on plastic plate cover.
Hey Wayne- Ive see some remote battery lugs that have a pop off plastic covers that are used on race-cars. I bet Jegs Performance Catalog has those...Im gonna look! Great mod Wayne!

P.S.- Don't tell him I told you but Wayne has a very warped sense of humor.

Great Idea SS!!!!!!!! I have been trying to figure that one out but you hit that one on the head! Thank you so much. I am guessing the rear portion of the trunk that you drilled through is fiberglass? Is it possible to get a picture of the battery side so I can get a better idea of how to complete this? Thanks again, I cannot say that enough! This will make attaching the trickle charger that much easier!

Wayne had the tire off today so I grabbed some photos.
Sorry the quality is not so good and they are somewhat dark but it is
Zook,
You were right, here they are:

JEGS Remote Battery Jumper Terminals - JEGS

    They run 10.00 each.

I just ordered the terminals. I will post pictures when I get them in. I also purchased a cycle pump for my next flat tire. It uses jumper terminals or a lighter socket for power. Since I destroyed one tire already I am ready for my next flat. I am also going to put together a list of my trunk emergency kit soon. I have been assembling tools. I will start a new thread with it.

I finished my remote jumper terminals this weekend. I used 6 Gage wires because I was worried anything smaller might not work if I was getting a jump off a car. I found I was able to hook the positive end directly into the open crimp-able union that is on the positive terminal. I hooked the negative end into the ground attachment that came off the neg terminal where it hooked into the frame. I will upload the pictures next week.

Thanks for the Idea SS! I have it up and running and in case I need to use my cycle pump I am all set!

    Default Need Pics

My battery is on its last leg and I saw this thread about putting posts in the trunk for easy access but the pictures are no longer on this server. Did you do this modification and would you mind posting some pics so I can get a better idea?

Also, someone was going to put together a trunk emergency kit and I was wondering if that was done somewhere in the forum.

Thanks for all your help! I have a 2010 Stallion.

Look at post #10 on this thread. There’s a link there that will direct you to the parts you need.

Those are the ones I installed on mine. Put one on each side of the trunk lid mounts and hooked them up to the battery with the post terminals behind the rear seat backrest. Just a side note, the metal bracket that the radio mounts to in the trunk is not grounded. Rick
