    Default Harley Cool Flow Fan

Anyone purchased and installed this fan from Harley Davidson for 2017 Tri Glide? Living in Florida and want something to reduce the heat when stuck in traffic. This one directs the heat to the ground versus ones that drive the heat from the left to the right. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I have one on my 2021 Ultra Trike - last year was the first riding season I used it. I did notice a difference.

    Let mine on auto.

I use both the Harley Coolflow fan and a set of Love Jugs… I rode all last summer with this set up (I run a Stage II as well) and found the combo to work very well. I also ride with JES Fork fangs, which is the reason I added the auxiliary fans.

    No problems at all.

I will report later (once I get out and the weather heats up) on how my set of Design Engineering heat shield liners work to further reduce felt heat.

    I anticipate good things…

I picked up my '20 in December of '21. During the winter I added DKs tank lift & air defectors. Decatted the headpipe and wrapped them in titanium header wrap. Added the 1" floorboard extenders. Removed the left mid frame air deflector. Also purchased a Cool flow fan but didn't install it. That was a very hot summer here. I road as much as I could in the heat of the day. In traffic, back roads, highways, I never felt much heat. The more interesting thing is I never mentioned the heat issue to my bride to see what she felt about it without any bias. She said it was better then my old Ultra. Didn't really feel anything. I was very surprised as I had heard the passenger heat was more an issue on the trike because of the cat position on the trike. So I never installed the Coolflow fan. I didn't think it would be necessary with the other things I did and I was right. I installed a FP3 and kept watch of the engine temp in case I needed to install Love Jugs. Temps never got over 270. Not something I'd worry too much about. Just keep up with oil changes.

All that said, I'm in New Jersey. You're not. Our summers are just as hot as yours (some say ours are hotter) but yours are longer. The Coolflow is meant to remove felt heat. Not cool the engine at all. What I did was to help cool the engine so you don't get to the point of needing the fan. I do believe removing the cat does the most for the heat issue.

Really interested to hear how the heat shield liners work for you. I have a 21 with a stage 2 and love jugs with the hd coolflow fan.

Put one on my 2020 Tri glide. Live in Pa so not too extreme temps here. Run on those hot humid days in Aug. takes the edge off the heat. Be safe BK

I put a Jaggs oil cooler with fan on my 13. It mounts on the down tube. I've done the tank lift, decat, tuner, floorboard extensions, and relocated the oil filter.

    I live west of you.

    Every little bit helps.

The cool flow fan is for reducing felt heat, not actual heat of the engine. And it is beneficial at reducing felt heat, just like the EITMS will reduce felt heat.

What is better, for the rider, passenger and for the engine...is to reduce actual heat. Doing that will give you more power, a longer lasting engine, AND it reduces felt heat.

I did everything that they suggest that applied to the trike. Seems to work for me. OH. Except the airbox mod. I felt that would let hot air into the filter area and lowering the air density to the throttle body. Just my theory.

On the contrary to the theory on the air box

Getting rid of the ugly stock backing plate exposes the heads and cylinders to cooling from the air stream

Using an external breather keeps the moisture robbing hot oil from entering the intake, helping to keep your engine running better for a longer time, while the new backing plate and opened up AC is pulling in a much better air flow
