Geez....Now I got another issue!

Ok fellas.....today I took my trike out for a ride and happened to notice that I got no blinkers working except for the ones that are located in the mirrors. The factory winkers on the front as well as the rear winkers are doing nothing....could it be the winker relay or maybe a fuse? Just makes no sense to me that the ones on the mirrors would work if it was the winker relay or a fuse.....anyone got any ideas? I tried them both with the bike running and with it not running.....got the same results both ways......I hate electrical things...I truly do.....it's like chasing the elusive white elephant!

I've only got a basic understanding of electricals. In the above thread, you mention having LED's, which I've never run, and I gained some understanding of them from the posts by Gorilla and pmar6004.......

Pretty sure that your main blinkers each have their own grounds near their respective locations, but all 4 should get their "hot" electrical juice via the switch housing on the handlebars. Switch On Left/Right = blinker on Left/Right. Switch Off Left/Right = blinker off Left/Right.

Your trike might have a ballast resistor as mentioned in the above thread and am wondering if the ballast resistor can fail from a bad connection or some other reason.....

I'm stumped as regards the blinkers on the mirrors working when the main 4 blinkers don't as it seems like the mirror blinkers must be wired into the same circuit, but without seeing a wiring schematic, I don't know how or where they tie in.

My two "guesses" would be either a bad ballast resistor or switch housing contacts that need cleaning as also mentioned in the above linked thread.

Hopefully someone with more electrical knowledge and experience can offer you some better insight........

I did some snooping around this morning, checking the fuse, tracing wires....and I found the culprit....I had a wire that was chafed and making contact with the frame of the bike....so I wrapped it in electrical tape and then use a piece of the plastic wire loom and placed this over the area that I repaired...and I secured it in place with a couple wire ties. Tested the signals and they all worked just as they were supposed to...even without the bike running, they functioned correctly.....so I indeed broke into my happy dance right there in the garage and the dogs thought I had lost my mind....! It's just so very seldom that I am able to exorcise an electrical demon! I have this uncontrollable urge to celebrate when I do!:Monster:

Checking the Blinker Fluid Reservoir was one of the first things I looked at....I was afraid that I may of had a leak....but luckily the Blinker Fluid was right on spot! (teeheehee):woohoo:

So what do think we are...fools? There's no such thing as blinker fluid. Don't try hoodwinking the folks on here again!

On a more serious note however, I suspect that she (or the dealer) simply neglected forgot to grease the flasher bearing when performing the last service.

Blue your not so far off track a lot of people do not realize that the bulbs need grease on them to prevent corrosion in the sockets....man it stinks when they get stuck in there!!!!!
