    Default Parking Brake Adjustment

Do you folks ever get tired or adjusting that parking brake on the DCT. I'll bet I've had to do that6 or 7 times in 2 yrs. I wonder how much adjustment on that cable I have left

Default Bullet Brake is the Solution to the Parking brake adjustments!

I have a 2018 DCT Tour which has been converted to an Encore trike. I have never had an issue with adjusting the parking brake especially after I remembered to release the Parking brake and driving off. Anyway, since the adding the Encore, I replaced the parking brake pads I think for the last time!

Reason being I purchased the "Bullet Brake" which uses the disc brakes as a parking brake. I have no affiliation with Bullet brake, but simply a happy customer! You won't ride off with the Bellet brake applied. Simple five-minute install and a brake bleed in the event you captured air in the installation procedure. Check them out yourself.

    Default Bullet brake

Just had it installed on my 2021 DCT. It’s great. Mark the owner is a great guy with a product that all DCT goldwings should have.

The problem with adjusting the park brake are the instruction.
Please keep in mind that anytime I share or give advice about a motorcycle, unless I state otherwise, I am always referring to GL1800's and no other.

Thats the coolest thing I have ever seen. I couldn't find the honda products so I had to email but I gotta have that. I cannot keep my brake adjusted for more than 500 miles, I'll be happy to be done with it. Can you tell me which one you ordered? I'm on a '21 Tour so I'm thinking it would be the same.

The correct Bullet Brake for Honda Goldwing is the model BB-05.

I agree with above.....ditch the Honda parking brake and get the Bullet Brake.

With the BB set the Trike WILL NOT budge at all and is held solid, no forgetting to release it either......it won't budge with it enabled.

Other problems with Honda's feeble attempt at a parking brake for the 2018+ DCT.....

    * Cable actuated with a cable that stretches significantly with use, causing frequent adjustments

    * Easy ridden with it actuated and burning the pads

    * Way too easy for a snoopy looker to release the brake unintentional.......with dire results especially with a Trike.

    * Not a simple task to adjust

Honda should have stepped up and used automotive technology from their cars.......an electronic parking brake with a simple button you press. If left on when you start to move, it's automatically released with application of throttle.

My Silverado works this exact way.....it's a slick setup and would be easy to design implement for the Goldwing.

Great thoughts and ideas. Unfortunanly, Honda has to make all kinds of compromises when stuffing so many features onto a 106" wheel base and also still hit a price point for many to buy.

Here at JustWings, instead of adjusting the e-brake per Honda instructions, we adjust it like we would if adjusting a car's e-brake system.
Please keep in mind that anytime I share or give advice about a motorcycle, unless I state otherwise, I am always referring to GL1800's and no other.

    How is that exactly?

    I disagree.....

An electronic parking brake, like most newer cars have nowadays takes up less space and is much simpler design than the current Honda mechanical <out-dated> implementation. The bike is loaded with electronics already......not a big deal to do it right.

Taken from their automotive division, like many other things on the 2018+ GL1800 (headlight signature, FOBs, TPMS, etc.) would not cost them much at all.

Simple software implementation allows the electronic parking brake to automatically disengage with throttle or brake activation, eliminating riding off with the brake engaged which is a big issue with the current mechanical design.

A mechanical cable actuated parking brake on an all electronic controlled motorcycle, really? Something from the 70's....

To me, the current parking brake looks like a quick after-thought and was not part of the original design.

If I recall, Honda has a measured spec taken at the e-brake caliper, when the e-brake lever is pulled to its first click. Here with the lever in its relaxed position, would adjust the caliper till the pads have a slight drag, while spinning the rear tire, and then back it off a little till there is none. Then we'd adjust the cable accordingly.

Does your trike kit still use the OEM eBrake system ???

Could your eBrake pads be worn and need replaced ???
