this may have been discussed before but I only got one ign key for my bike[guess the original ignition switch had to be changed]. I marked the depth my ign key goes in and went to a local ace and with my trips back and forth he ended up making a key 4 different times from different blanks[3 with their auto machine and one with the old machine],none worked. They seem to go in deep enough but do not turn the switch on.I went to a ace store 30 miles away and they told me they did not even have a correct blank to cut! This is a 2014 GL1800 , when I had my 2002 GL 1800 ace cut several ign keys with no issue.Any suggestions? Do I order a blank like from ebay or amazon?

Get a blank from a Honda dealer…. And then have it cut by a shop that specialize in key cutting and locksmithing..I did that years back with my VTX 1800 Bike…

Not sure what the difference is but for your 2014, they list a different part # for the key than the 2001-2010 use. Partzilla shows that the 2014 key can be used from 2012-2017. But Cyclemax shows different key part for 2012-2014 as well as 2017 and then another option for 2015-2016. Maybe it's just the design on the head???

For 5th gens, to my knowledge, all key blanks are the same. The only differance is the shape of the head (black part) we turn with our fingers. The head also has an insert with a GW emblem, and sometime the emblem matches the color of the bike. All of those differances come with a different part number.
