VW clutch

Can this be rigged to operate off a handlebar clutch lever and not require both hands? How would you set it up? With a slave cylinder? Thanks for any help on this.

I've seen lotsa requests about this on several forums, but have never seen one operated from the handlebars that actually worked well (that's not to say that they don't exist). I've toyed with the idea of using a hi-torque electric servo and a potentiometer driven by the handlebar lever (would require virtually no effort there), but I've never completed one.

I've seen posts about using a handlebar master cylinder to drive a power brake master cylinder, but I dont' know of a specific one to cite here.

Thanks for the reply, I have toyed with the idea of the servo actuated one I just havent gotten any further than the thinking about it stage.

I rigged one up waaay back in 1976 using one of the Old Harley "Mouse Traps", and a Heavy Duty Lined Housing Clutch Cable for a Norton Commando, and a Lower Harley Lined Mouse Trap Cable. Been a Long Time Ago, and the "Exact Details" are kinda' vague now. What I do remember.....

(1) Had to make a Bracket for the Cable Housing to bottom out on that bolted to the Engine/Transaxle Bellhousing

(2) Had to make an "ear" for the Cable to mount to, and welded it to the Clutch Lever on the side of the Transaxle

(3) Had to make a Bracket and weld it on the Frame for the Mouse Trap to mount to

(4) Had to extend part of the Mouse Trap until it got easy enough to pull

(5) Used a Triumph Twin Clutch Lever of the 60s-70s Vintage

The Main Reason for the Mouse Trap was to get the "Compound Leverage" it offers, and even it had to be extended to get a "Lever Pull" that didn't require an 800 lbs Gorilla....GOOD LUCK, but This did work, Long Ago with some welding, and Length/Angle adjustments along the way.....Hope this mighta' helped a Little. If You/Someone is good at fabrication, a Double Leverage System could probably be made from scratch.....a lot more pieces out there to work with in this Modern Bike Era.....
