Has anyone found a good insurance company ? Geico is crazy
they gave me a quote of $1,400 a year just for the stallion.
Told them this isn't a $180,000 custom bike it's a trike.. They
said well according to our findings these are hard to repair -
more losses etc. etc. etc. Am fed up with Geico.

Am really not understanding what is up with Geico.

</div>Big O: We have a 2009 Stallion #531 and have State Farm Ins. coverage only took 2 days for them to approve once under writters saw how stallion was made..

</div>try progressive. I checked Geico also and they wanted to pawn it off to a sub-company.

I went to Markel last year from Progressive. Saved quite abit -- Current premium on an 05 GL1800 w. CSC kit is $276. They are insuring the value of the kit as well as the bike.<br />

They advertise alot on biker mgazines. Very easy to deal with -- 800 236 2862.<br />
OTOH, I have not had a claim so cannot speak to that service. Maybe worth a phone call.

I went through AARP and was hooked up with progressive. The price was in $600 range until I got it insured for $45,000 and then it went to $800 for the year.

That's not happening.
They don't like to insur. in florida.

I went with ALlstate in NC. It was $275 for full coverage I think....

i think they freak out when they see it's a 2,300CC engine.
Then again yesterday on the freeway saw some crazy guys
on crotch rockets doing insane things weaving in and out of
traffic flying down the road doing close to 100mph.
There are really a high number of accidents here and
am sure that being close to where all the partying happens in
fort lauderdale doesn't help it either. Then again not everyone
drinks - parties - or drives as if they have an early death wish.
Am going to do more in depth checking in the morning.

My insurance agent found us a great rate thru Foremost Insurance that deals with bikes n trikes. It was neat because the lady at foremost knew more about Trikes than I did She asked what type of conversion kit, mine is MotorTrike and she said OK, that's one of our prefered vendors. Your insurance for one YEAR is $390.00 including roadside assistance etc..

USAA just patches you through to Progressive and it is cheaper than calling them direct

Sometimes, USAA is a good rate...sometimes NOT. They do not want to insure in Nevada so the rates there are not competitive. As noted above, other companies want "out" of some states so they make their rates uncompetitive. The cheapest company in one area may not be the cheapest in another, regardless of the type of trike...or car.

With the limited number of Stallions, it's a rather custom product. I understand why companies are reluctant to insure.

Well being more of a *custom* $30,000 and a 2,300 CC engine they
are going crazy with rates. Seems that the Major Problem happens
to be that i live in Broward County. Broward and Dade have the
highest rates apparently in the nation. Did my driving Suddenly
get worse because i moved to a different area ? So we pay the price
for those who drink and drive - or drug and drive and run red lights
which is a familiar happening here and WHY one has to be a very
defensive driver always. Can't believe that Geico has been the
cheapest rate --- Progressive is giving a rate of $4,000 a year here
in broward.

Am a veteran and will try USAA but the lowest quote from progressive for this area
was $3,000. It's crazy.

OK bad news is when USAA doesn't write the policy in an area they are just
giving you over to progressive and the quote will be the same - no
difference in the rates from any other progressive quote in the area.
So IF you are a veteran and USAA DOES write the policy in your area
you may get a better rate otherwise it's not happening.

AFAIK, USAA no longer underwrites motorcycle policies. Haven't since at least 2005, as when I went to insure my brand-new GL1800 in May USAA promptly replied that they no longer insured motorcycles directly (even though I had a Kawasaki "grandfathered" with USAA). I was then transferred to "DriveInsurance", which is the USAA/Progressive partnership company.

What puzzles me about Progressive is that they insure Stallions on a "agreed value". If you and Progressive agree on an insured value (say, $29995), and 4 years from then you total the Stallion...they pay you $29995. Since the Stallion on NADA is listed as N/A for a current value & Progressive insures to the NADA value...there is no data to compare to. Of course...Kelly Blue Book has the 2008 Stallion rated at $23500. Strange...

BTW...the rate for my 2008 is $800/yr.
