CSC trunk max weight limit

I cannot find anywhere on the CSC website that says what the maximum weight limit is in the trunk. All it says is that it’s 8.25 cubic feet. Does anyone know what the maximum weight is for the trunk?

The Harley Triglides trunk is 4.4 cubic feet with a maximum weight of 50 pounds…

You've got me wondering....just what are you planning on putting in your trunk that has you concerned about the weight? I would think pretty much anything you could stuff into the space would be fine, but I'm thinking clothes, a jacket, small tool bag, etc. I dont see how you'd get more than 50 or 75lbs max worth of stuff in there. I know I've never seen anything from CSC indicating any sort of weight limit.

To be sure with as beefy that set up is you wouldn’t have to worry about weight in the trunk. I visited the plant last year and got the tour from one of the design engineers. That conversion is built stout.

From the owners manual... It is going to depend on what shock spring you have installed in your trike. Max payload capacity is not to exceed the total of your weight, your passengers weight and the weight of cargo in the trunk and/or carried on the rack.

I am with Pappy Zook on this one. Whatever I can get in my trunk (normal motorcycle stuff) will not be a problem.

I went with the 650. I weigh 275, my wife is 110 - so we are at 375. Wow, that's a long way from 650.

Let me add - my Daytona has so many nooks and crannies that we usually leave the top bike trunk empty. The trike has a top shelf. That is usually packed with stuff that is always in the bike. Small tool kit, tire repair, bike rain cover, cleaning stuff, air compressor - all the things that may be needed during a trip.

The bottom shelf is our main travel bags. We took the tour bag from our Harley trunk, packed that and it fits right in the middle of the CSC trunk. Sometime ago, we purchased two trunk liner bags; they also work great. We used to use the Harley bag in our top Harley trunk and these bags is the CSS trunk.

We have since discovered that that is way too much - and not just use one of those bags - it fits along side the Harley bag in the CSC bottom trunk. Still plenty of room for extra shoes and anything else we need.

Long answer - short answer is - I wouldn't worry about the weight.

I was doing a math problem to figure out what rear shock spring size I should go with. My understanding is that the lower value ones gives a softer ride. If I loaded the bike to max in every compartment, full fuel, full wife and 50 lbs in the trunk the load would be 423 lbs. If I’m right about the 525 lb spring giving the softest ride, is there any reason to choose a stiffer spring? Will a softer spring make it easier to bottom out the bike on a big bump?

I did that same math when I was ordering my conversion. Could have gone with the 525. Then I figured - just what if?

The midway spring did the trick for me and the ride is really nice. I think the independent suspension is what really make all the difference.

My experience is that CSC recommends the mid spring rate for almost all applications. The lower and higher rated springs are for unusual applications. As far as trunk weight capacity, follow Papa's advice. Papa knows best! Good luck..... Jim
