Yep, always ask the sales person and then have them show you the deal in writing.
Just walk away if you don't like it..
Do sales people no longer run your SS number and qualify you for a interest rate for a loan?
In the past when I would buy a new bike that was always the way it was done.
Recently when i sat down with a salesperson I was told "I am sure you qualify for the 1.9% rate", but no paper work to substantiate that.
Is that now done in the finance person's office? Seems like an ambush if it is.
Especially since the fine print stated that trikes didn't qualify for the 1.9%.
Just my paranoia but it made me wonder. I ended up not buying the bike or continuing the process because of my suspicion.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
One should not allow anyone to run your credit check until you have landed on a bike and have completely agreed on a price. In the credit world, we call that "permissible purpose". Each time someone (external) runs your credit, it may lead to a lower credit score.
By the way, if the run is listed under "automotive" they can run your credit for 30 days and it only has the effect of one credit check.
Regarding trikes not qualifying for the 1.9 - I didn't see that in the online documentation. There were some restrictions in terms for several bikes.
As a practice - having been in the finance business for over 30 years, sales folks do not typically run your report. They may take what they have to the F&I Manager.
Every dealer around seems to have a "sale" going on. Do cars (motorcycles, boats, or snowmobiles) sell for any less during these sales than they do any other time?
Having a salesperson tell you they're sure you qualify for XYZ is the same as them telling you the vehicle was only driven on Sundays to church. That's what they do. Tell you what THEY think you want to hear and hopefully move along in the sales process. Nothing to get upset about.

Most salespeople will tell you ; What they think you want to hear....So the less info/taking you do the less the'll tell you what they think you want to hear...Quite a few vehicle salespersons'... By the time you are ready for your first oil change will probably have a new job selling pencils at Staples....
