Default THOUGHTS FOR A SNOW EVENING....

I was reading a post about what size socket fits the Tri-Glide's lug nuts....And picking though my 61 + years of collecting and buying tools /Sockets/Wenches/And what not's from flea markets, back when they were called swap meets..

I have 3 medal cabinets and assorted oil coved wooden boxes filled to the brim with tools, So much so that if i leave just two draws wide open the cabinet's from the weight they will fall forward. I noticed that in the collection i have over a dozen of each size....And 1/2--9/16--3/4--7/8... 10mm Way too many to count' And from 4 or 5 different makes, Some are so loving well used that the the numbers are mostly worn off... So i was wondering am i normal...

Yes normal, my socket sets are complete and duplicates, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 drive both sae and metric

I have also duplicates in 3/4 drive plus my many specialty sockets

Same for wrenches both sae and metric plus specialty wrenches, most of which are Snap on

same goes for pliers, screwdrivers and air tools

I have been collecting and using my tools professionally for over 55 years

Bob I even have a Snap On socket for car antenna nuts

Not only do I have two roll around boxes plus one top box full of everything you could possibly need to tear down a Harley to nothing. Come the end of this April I will have one large Kenedy roll around with a hang on end box plus the matching top box. Plus two large bench top boxes along with another extra large roll around completely full of 45 years worth of toolmaking tools. I have no idea what to do with all of it.

I have just enough tools to fix or build anything I may buy. Expensive precision screw drivers for opening a laptop, a small carry bag with hammer, screw drivers, scraper and allen keys, and a full set of Crescent brand tools in a case.

    Its cold but no snow.

I think you're pretty much normal Bob, when we sold our house up north I left a few basic tools on the pegboard on my workbench in the basement. I have tools and other stuff still in boxes from 20 years ago when we moved. Don't need yard tools like mower, edger, clippers, etc, everything outside is taken care of for us. I've got sae and metric sets in all sizes that gather cobwebs most of the time.

Geezzzz..... I have, I think 5 or 6 toolboxes not to mention the tool kits in each vehicle. One toolbox is dedicated to sockets and socket wrenches (plural) and various adapters! Then I have my wall peg-board Torque wrenches (plural) and big boy socket bars (plural). Yesterday I had the need for a 9/16th deep socket and couldn't find one in my collection. Went to the store and bought a set of 8 deep sockets to add to my collection. The saga continues.....

You guys can brag about your toolboxes. But my neighbor has the best toolbox I've ever seen. It fits in his pocket and fixes anything. It's called a cell phone. Works every time. He once had a leaking hot water heater on a Sunday. I don't know how he did it but he found somebody to come me out on a Sunday to replace it. He said it was a deal cause the was only charging 1500 dollars extra for a Sunday service call. That was at least 20 years ago. But it does show if you have the money and don't mind spending it you can get things done.

Just because someone has money that doesn't necessary mean they have common sense .....

Why would you neighbor want to heat hot water,??,,,
