This past summer I bought a 2002 Honda GL1800 with a Roadsmith conversion. The bike had 75,000 miles on it and some severe scratches on the top of the front fender. I realized the scratches were from the bottom of the Fairing hitting the fender. I looked a little closer and realized the front forks had a lot of sag. There was only 1 1/2" from the fairing to the top of the fender. For Christmas, Mrs. Clause and one of the elves got me a Traxxion spring kit and an All Balls seal kit.
Over the Holidays I installed the parts and the result was dramatic. Now I have 3 1/2" of clearance and a much better ride. The most amazing change was in the ease of steering. Although the bike had a rake kit, it was previously hard to steer. This difference of 2" in the forks was an unexpected benefit to the steering.
If you are in a similar situation, go for it.
