Thread: 2006 CVO with M/T Gladiator with electric reverse.

    Default 2006 CVO with M/T Gladiator with electric reverse.

    Last year, when storing the trike for the winter, we removed the battery, put a cover on it and put it to bed!!! Fast forward to last week. We took the cover off, re-installed the battery and the trike started right up! I climbed aboard, flipped the reverse switch, pushed on the starter button.....NOTHING! We checked all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals going to the battery and still nothing. We were able to determine that the motor was ok by spinning the drive gear (turns freely) We used a jumper from the battery to the solenoid and the trike reverses. We located the wire (light green)going to the solenoid and found a "no power" situation with the reverse circuit energized. Is there a relay that we can't find? Would anyone have the schematic for the reverse circuit wiring?

    Any help is hugely appreciated,

    Hi Mike,

    Have you checked and reset the reverse breaker switch under the seat? Check that and see if that fixes your problem. If that is not the problem, then remove the MT relay box cover under the seat and check the fuses there. There will be two fuses, a 5 amp and a 7.5 amp. Check and replace if needed.

    I am interested to know if using the electric reverse drains so much power from the battery that the engine stalls. That is what happens to my gladiator trike.

    Thanks for this Pappa Zook! The trike is presently at the local Harley dealer, (The Rock Harley-Davidson) in Sudbury, ON. I'm told they are an authorized M/T installer. They should have access to the schematic for the wiring. When we were checking things we didn't find a breaker under the seat, we did find a fuse box with a cover, under the seat, that held 4 fuses, all 5 amps. About the breaker, would it connect to the light green wire that is connected to the solenoid???

    Old Rodder did you know a Jim Robinson from Sudbury? He sold his house in Sudbury a couple years ago and moved to Toronto. (I think.) He used to ride a Kawasaki and then he went to a Gold Wing. He was into riding sleds for a while.

    I was the issue!!!! A little history here. I bought this trike late last year and got very little time in the saddle (That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!) We're having a rare early spring here in Sudbury, so, the trike came out early. So, long story short, I had a MAJOR brain fart and forgot that I had to press on BOTH the horn and the starter buttons to engage the reverse!!!!! I was reminded of this fact when I contacted Motor Trike.

    The take-away here......I won't soon forget it!!!!

    No, I have to say, I never met him. Unless, like a lot of bikers, he went by a nickname. I used to hang out at Timmie's on Lorne St where a lot of bikers hang out. Where are you from?

    Old Rodder, I'm in San Diego. He is a friend that I met a number of years ago when we were on a Kawasaki group. Jim and his wife Sandy would come south and attend some of the Kawi rider meet-ups. I guess the first time i met him was in Eureka Springs in 2001. He stills goes by the nickname of "Skid".

    Dont feel bad, that happens a lot. Even to guys that have owned their MT Harley for a while. Matter of fact I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Pushing and holding both the horn and the starter buttons is definately not an instinctive process.
